Here I am in my dull office, with it's robins-egg blue walls, trying desperately to read a god-forsaken paper on energy deregulation. Ugh. Someone kill me now, please. Here are a couple things to ponder:

1. Is anyone here planning on never having kids? I am always amazed by people that make that firm a decision. I always feel so obligated. If you already have kids, tell us some weird things they do. Like, my brother used to put his forehead down on the run and push himself around like that, creating gian t rugburns on his forehead. Weird kid.

2. Do you love Stevie Wonder? I personally think he's amazing. Love his song, "I Believe"...always makes me think of that special someone.

3. Who do you envy? I envy my friend who is having a three-way relationship with a guy and girl, both of whom have fallen madly in love with her and now want to break up with each other. Ahhh..good times.

4. If a party was arranged for the OOT forum, kind of like a trekkie convention, would you have balls enough to come? And if you did, who would you be most nervous to meet? My balls are well-developed so I would come, and fear meeting Merri because we'd probably end up in the slammer after a night out on the town with her. Zoiks.

C'mon, lurkers. Set me free from my banal existence.

Awww if you died, Tare, who would entertain me? Sawry, no death for you today.

1. Aye, never having kids. Though I want a kitty.

2. I've never met Stevie, and I try not to fall in love with strangers.

3. I envy everyone with a decent job that doesn't live in GA.

4. I'd definately come. I'd be scared to meet Katie, because my homicidal urges probably couldn't be held back.

It's good you fear Merri. Sorta like fearing that really hungry lion that just escaped from it's cage at the zoo.

Btw, when I read that line to her she said, "mmm women's prisons".

I don't want kids right now the way little kids don't want their parents to die, or inversely, how grown men want Pamela Anderson.
It's a long way to never, though, and at some point I suppose I will feel the pull to replicate Skeet. He really is one fine specimen.

I love "As," and when Common came out with that song that uses a sample of a Bobby Caldwell song, I thought it was him. Go white boy.

I envy people that don't have to work hard to stay in shape. God gave me the kind of body where my curves and I are constantly at war. However, envy is pretty useless. Everyone has something that someone else lacks, and vice versa.

I'll try to take a stab at this...

I have 2 kids, from 2 different relationships. Oldest is 13, youngest will be 2 in Feb. I like to spread 'em out, hehe. Oldest plays video games religiously like I do, and the youngest one also crawls on the floor with his forhead on the floor. Come to think of it, so do I...

Yes, Stevie Wonder is great.

Envy... envy... no one is springing to mind ATM. Have to get back to you on that one.

And yes, I'd come to a trekkie OOT convention. I'd be the one in the corner with a margarita, taking pics for blackmail purposes later.

1) Kids are good to borrow, like when I wana ride on the roundabout on the seafront or go visit father christmas. Best taken a few days at a time.

2) I used to... still enjoy listening to him when he pops up though.

3) Anybody over 5 feet tall, god it sucks having the world look right over your head half the time.

4) no-one would notice

1) Have daughter (17) and step-son (16). Both are cool and wouldn't trade them for the world!

2) Stevie Wonder is truely amazing - I saw him in concert in 1972 in an outdoor stadium. Also on the ticket was the Eagles and the Rolling Stones. Someone else, too, but - well - things are kinda fuzzy from that period in time...

3) I envy my buddy, Mark, who I grew up with and is now president of a major cable movie company. He can retire anytime he feels like it, and is the hardest working person I know. Very focused and his knowledge of good rock and roll is outstanding! Plus - he's just a great guy...

4) I'm afraid of no one - I'd love to meet the folks behind the posts and see if my impressions are correct...

So there!

1: I have always been told that once you have kids, you pay for your raising. No thanks, I don't need to get arrested for beating the hell out of my kids for being complete retards. "Do as I say dammit, not as I did!"

2:Hmm...no.

3:Don't envy anyone. The only reason people are better off than me, is because I am a lazy *******.

4: Yeah, I would come. Of course, I would never be invited to another. Me + alcohol + people = Massive collateral damage and a couple of nights in lockup. I would be nervous to meet katie, I would be afraid that her stupidity would be contagious. (Not to mention the other ***** diseases she has)

I've done enough stupid things to fall for any blackmail schemes. Hell, I'd probably be the one announcing what I had done.

New here but what the hell =P

Do I want kids, no way. I'd rather not find more places to through my money into the wind at.

Stevie Wonder, hmmmm. I haven't listened to any of his songs in a long time, but I'm sure it's great stuff.

Who do I envy...no one. However I envy a lot of things. My cat for one, Bob has the best life and would switch with him in a minute. A day in the life of Bob is sit in the window basking in the sun while watching birds go by and grin as owner leaves for work. (I swear he mocks me every morning I leave!) Play with toy's and the occasional "no no" forbidden item which just can't be overlooked while owner is away. Eat. Return to favorite window and sleep. Suddenly find a small piece of string which looks evil. Attack the evil string to defend the home! Fight an epic battle for hours with the string and defeat it as owner gets home. Jump onto computer desk and fight a mysterious box that makes sounds for owners attention. Finally victorious after a couple hours or trying, move to TV room and fall asleep on owners lap.

Would I come to a party...Sure, I love patries!

Hope this helps you get through another boring day at the office, Tare.

1. No. I'm the only one in my family who can pass on the family name. I'm the only boy in the family, and my dad didn't have any brothers. Ahh, the pressure!!!

2. Man, Stevie is pretty swingin'

3. I envy Ben Afflek, but more specifically, what he threw away. C'mon, JLo!!! What an idiot!!!

4. Yeah, I'd come. I'd probably fear meeting The Glorious AtomicFlea cause her posts just give off that creepy-serial-killer-shower-scene vibe. Sorry Flea, you do. And prison definately sounds like a viable destination after a night on the town with anyone from this forum.

No, not really. Sorry.

Asuming my travel expenses were not an issue, sure.

I'm not sure Thundra and myself in the same room would be a good idea... Other than that, I don't think I would be nervous.

edit: gee, when Flea sees that last one, I'll bet Twistedsamuri thinks so even more when She gets done with him. Should be interesting to watch...

2. Never listened to him.

3. I ENVY NO MAN!!

4. I would show, I woulden't want to meet AH because I would have to hurt him.

I'd be nervous of meeting Alla, I bet he has those eyes in real life.

Dead.

Although very feminine-like, because I happen to have a girl-gina.

You don't have to worry about it, though, since I wouldn't be there. Skeeter has already told me that he wouldn't want to, and I'd be duty-bound to stand by mah man.

Just kidding, there's only one person I'd kill and we all know who, and the world would be a much better place for it.

(A) I already have a kid (as you're aware), though maybe someday I wouldn't mind another. But, if not, that's fine as well. Jophiel Jr., any time he watches a movie or TV, has a habit of deciding he's one of the characters. Not like he sits on the couch and pretends to be Simba or anything but rather he sees Simba on TV and says "That one is me!". The problem is that he usually has pretty shoddy luck on picking characters. We were watching some dinosaur special and he kept pointing to some dinosaur, saying "That one is me!" and two minutes later, it'd get eaten or fall in a volcano or something. Then he'd get pissed.

(B) I have no strong feelings related to Mr. Wonder.

(C) I'm pretty content right now. Better to quit while I'm ahead than to start envying others.

(D) I've gone to quite a few get-togethers with folks from the Straight Dope Message Boards. Always had a good time, so I imagine I would with you folk as well. I haven't gone lately, partly because I don't post there as much these days and partly because the meetings started to shift from a group of us sitting around in a bar, having intelligent but funny conversation to a bunch of people getting drunk as hell and trying to hook up like some adult version of a Christian Youth Group retreat.

Anyway, as far as I know, none of you want to punch me in the mouth so I wouldn't be afraid of any of you.

I should note I wouldn't actually leave the greater Chicago metropolitian area to meet you schlubs

1. I planning on having 2-3 kids, begining in 2-3 years :)

2. I think he is a talented performer, just not my style really.

3. I envy those who are able to live simple lives by being content with having enough to get by. I wish I didn't always want more than what I have.

4. I would come if it was in the area (HA!) and if any of the regulars were going to be there. I can't think of anyone I would be nervous to meet.

First off, it's Twiztid. It's not supposed to be spelled correctly, it's the name of a band.

Secondly, yeah. Now that I know she's with you, everything comes together. Plus, the way things are looking now, I'll have Tare to keep me company.

I've decided not to have kids. My wife however has decided to have kids. We've got a little friction going in this area just now. Realizing her hormonally driven biological imperitave to have kids, I'm tempted to tell her to just wait it out. In all likelihood, I'll acquiesce.

I wouldn't say I love him. I do recognize his genius though. But the only two SW songs on my iPod are "Higher Ground" and "Superstitious".

Rich people. People rich enough to never have to worry about making all the bills in any given month, rich enough to have some leisure time, and rich enough to be able to actually work in the field of their choice.

I'd go. I find Kaolion and Smash the most interesting. I'd like to find out Thundra's real gender... but only because s/he has made such a stink about it. Of course it probably wouldn't be such a good idea if I came, as I tend to the sensitive side, hold grudges and am quick to violence. I doubt I'd be able to get out of that convention without punching someone in the nose.
