Ok. I am stuck in hotel room with work every evening at the moment, and will be for some time. I want to get a PC single player offline game. Any suggestions? Is there anything similar to the Nintendo Legend of Zelda series? I love those games...

I like solving things, rather than testing my hand/eye coordination.

There is a new Myst out, and it is awsome if you like puzzles.

are you into RTS games? there are zillions of them out. C&C generals and its exspansion pack should give you plenty of gameplay. even after you've beat the game single player, the skirmish mode is pretty darn fun.

obviously Warcraft 3 is also a great RTS, but its offline replayability is kind of poor. between it and its exspansion pack they should provide alot of entertainment.

one thing about warcraft is you will definitly want to get it patched. if you wont have access to the net i wouldnt reccomend it. not because warcraft 3 is a buggy game, but because the patches add so much. for the exspansion pack the patch even adds a whole other campaign.

i havent played all the way through it, but Deus Ex: invisible war doesnt seem too shooter oriented. i find myself sneaking around and completing "quests" considerably more often than shooting people up. this may change as i progress through the game, but i find it isnt too reflex oriented.

The Crying Game. Don't play that one.

Zelda like? Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, and Illusion of Gaia.

Any modern game like Zelda? most games for Game boy advance games are the only ones left to have side scroll or overview RPG. they have a new zelda too.

good luck.

Try Twinsen's Odyssey (Little Big Adventure 1 & 2).

Casual fun (graphics too), running around, solving stuff, some fighting, sneaking, NPC hand-ins, talking, etcetera.

Big enough to keep you hooked.

Morrow Wind is an incredible single player RPG.
lots of exploring, lots of quests. Pretty much "open ended"
not to mention 3 expansion packs with a ton of content.

I refer to it as my single player EQ fix.

Beautiful graphics as well :)

If you like Zelda, then play Zelda.

Nintendo Emulator

Best way to get the ROM's for it is to download Kazaa, get the ROM's, then uninstall Kazaa and all it's **** spyware.

www.runescape.com isn't that bad either.

If you want to buy a game, Neverwinternights is pretty fun. Very quest related, and guessing where to go to next, finding clues, keeping journals, killing stuff. Good times.

I Love this game! Would be cool if they had a multi player option... Obviously not like EQ but just a small group that could run around and help each other.

I have a kick *** theif. Problem is that money is too easy to get for him, but serves no real purpose...

I enjoy the Stronghold games...kinda half lords of the realm, half warcraft. Old game called Full Throttle was really fun, but simplistic. Gabriel Knight 2 is all time favorite of mine, though it too is old.

Doubt any of this crap helps.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

Fun game.

Good graphics. Good puzzle solving. Good fighting.

Kind of short, and the controls take a bit to get used to.

Don't do it!

1. The game is very buggy, with out online support and being able to patch it will be nearly un-playable.

2. The game sucks! The mission included with the game is just horrid.

3. The games only saving grace is the ability to make and play custom maps with friends, with out that you will find it extremelly lacking.

If you enjoy games like that try out Dungeon Siege, they just came out with a nex exspansion also.

I loved that game! It came out right after my German exchange too, so I could say "Hey, I've been there!!!" I know II won't run on a P-IV, but Gabriel knight III will. Of course there is also the latest Monkey island game. Homeworld II is great if you like strategy games.

Deus Ex II is also decent. a bit of a FPS, but with much more plot and puzzle solving than most other FPS games.

Hmm, maybe I liked it so much because I cheated my way up to level 20, and bumped up my stats some. Haven't played it with out the patch, so it may be buggy, not sure. Also, it runs a lot better in 32 bit mode. I was ****** at first because it was sort of choppy, and I've worked hard at having a computer that can play any game, but after switching to 32 bit it runs great.

I like it because I have the choice to become good or evil. There were two people following me around so I could take them to safety because their town was over run by zombies. They kept getting in my way and ******* me off so I killed them.

My character is 18 levels of Wizard, and 2 levels of fighter. Means I can cast a lot of cool spells, transform into huge dragons or golems, summon familiars, and wear heavy armor and use a shield or two weapons.

I also like the ability to hire a thug. I picked a cleric chick to follow me around. She is great against undead, can heal me, and says things like "Yes Master, I'll get right on it" if I tell her to do something. Even cusses in elvish, then excuses herself.

Not bad for 20 bucks.

Speed issue? I played the old SSI AD&D game Curse of the Azure Bonds on my P4 2.56GHz by using some utility (Mo-Slo?) to slow it down to about 5%. Worked pretty well for me.

Deus Ex, The Invisible War. It's the sequel to the first one and I loved both. Both DE and System Shock have story lines I just thought was fantastic.
