Conspiracy to deliver & Manufacturing of cocaine under 50 grams.

A friend of mine this past Friday got picked up on this charge.

I haven’t seen or heard from him in eight months and figured I pissed him off in some way.

I got a call from him Saturday morning asking me to come pay $500 and sign on a $4500 bond to get him out and he would give me his 2002 Harley Davidson (Fatboy) as collateral. After hanging up the phone with him I hashed over in my mind weather or not to go get him out for about an hour. I decided since I hadn’t seen him in the past eight months to give his mother a call and see why the family hasn’t gone to get him.

Turns out that he has gone and gotten himself addicted to crack cocaine, he hasn’t seen his kids in the past eight months and sold almost all his possessions in his house to fund his habit. (He also had about 70 grand in the bank last I knew, gone now from what I understand…)

I’m still having a hard time not helping him out but I know if I go get him he’s going to go straight to the pipe.

But if I don’t, he may never speak to me again…

PLEASE DON”T DO DRUGS!

That is all.

Ok, first off, condolences to you and your friend's family. Losing someone to an addiction, even if it's not the "grand daddy" of losses, is a terrible thing.

Now that that's out of the way, can we not chalk this up to someone being a f*ck-tard? I have a simple rule. Don't do Crack. Why? The stigma. It's a ghetto drug. I don't live there; I have no association with it. It is a good rule for me. I like it (I don't do any drugs any more, but that's really not the point).

On top of that, the blanket "Don't do drugs." doesn't address, or allow for, the varying levels of drug use, abuse, consequences, etc. Don't do crack might be a good admonition. Don't do Heroine might be good too. Don't do drugs? That's Nancy Reagan talking. Free your mind, your *** will follow. :)

You know, that is rough, but a lot of people that don't have anything to feel good with end up looking in a lot of wrong places. I'm with everyone else on this one. Don't bail him out. Right now it's the drugs talking, not your friend.

That said, I had a father who when I was 5 (no joke) told me things like "Drugs are for dumbasses. If you ever do them I will lose all respect for your intelligence." Consequently, I've never even had the urge to smoke a cigarette.

I'm addicted to crack. Or to be more precise, my S.O.'s fabulous posterior.

Your friend is badly in need of help, and not in the form of bail. Letting him sit in stir for the time being would be totally appropriate; it's tough love. It wouldn't be fair to blame you for not getting him out, it's just desperation.

Unless you need a hardship in your life I would so stay away from this situation. Well then again if you really want a Harley Fatboy for cheap, dont they retail for 15-18k?
