FF XIV A disscussion amongst fellow diabloniansFollow

yes i know this so doesn't need another thread but I dont care I only like this forum...things don't trail off the first page too fast =^_^=

Well we've all heard the good news, and if you havn't then please crawl back under your rock. SE anounced at this years E3 that sometime in 2010 (or 11 not sure) they hope to release the 14th installment of the Final Fantasy franchise which will be their second online experience since FFXI the game we all love and haet.

First off let me say that I hope to see all of the fine folks of this server in the new game and still on XI for years to come. I have no intention of canceling Hyabusa once I get to start Playing Busa in this new game.

In all the excitement of this news I noticed one small thing.

Did any of us give thim much of a sh*t when they anounced FFXIII?

I mean, some of us like Mega and Myself were probably very happy to hear that thirteen would be on xbox 360 so we didnt have to buy PSfails to play it but other than that fact; is FFXII anywhere nearly as exciting as hearing the news about XIV being the long worked on 'Rapture' project?

I dare say it that the FF series is changing as our tastes grow as consumers. Most of us are probably in the same age group of 18-34 with many of us being children of the 80's. As is the final fantasy game series. It almost grew with us and now that we live in the age of 'conectivity' where we cant seem to keep our grubby little hands off of things like facebook and twitter I see a growing trend in the fact that people enjoy feelign conected to their fellow gamer.

I for one will pay XIII but only until i beat it or XIV comes out. I remember playing VII years ago and then being excited for X to come out. I loved them both very much so I got on ebay and went to my local gametrader and bought every FF title from start to finish... some where only in japanese but it didnt matter to me I just wanted to have them. About 20 hours into FFVIII my friend called me and told me to come to the mall because the long awaited FFXI was hitting the shelves today!

After loading the game, getting on different servers, trying for hours recreating characters to get on other server, having to buy a new computer to run it better and then FINALLY starting in my home of San d'Oria on the Diabolos server sometime in the first week of NA PC release...I never finished another console FF game again.

I think I'll try to wrap up this long winded bullsh*t with this statement: If every 5-8 years you put out another online title in between all the console FF titles; you have a customer with me for life Square Enix. I enjoy playign the offline games but nothing compares to riding a chocobo to meet a friend you know in RL to help him complete a quest so he can call a dragon and fight orcs by your side.

I truly enjoy your products and welcome future changes. The plan to remain online with FFXI, FFXIV and future titles is a welcomed change from just console games.

My opinion on FoV and level sync is kind of...mixed. I do appreciate that SE is trying to make things easier, but like most people think, it's become a bit too easy.

I don't mind FoV as much because it's a nice way to get a little bonus experience points. Level sync on the other hand bothers me. I know someone on our server who has 10-12 level 75 jobs, with all but one or two of them leveled in Qufim Island. That's not right.

As for FFXIV, I'm really looking forward to it. I don't want to quit FFXI, but as a college student, I'm not sure if I'll have the funds to pay for one when it comes out, let alone two MMO games. At that point, I would have to go with what suits me best.

But personally I think the game looks beautiful and I have really high hopes for it and I hope to see a lot of people from Diabolos on there as well. :)

I hate to say it, but I'm over the general attitude of the average player, the lack of imagination of my fellow players (no NPing in an RPG, WTF?), and the lack of fun and exciting content for small groups, below 75.

The real trick will be to make the new game have more small group, and balanced through the entire level range. Similar to ESIV: Oblivion.

Dude, I've been playing for more years than I care to admit (US release officially). I still don't have a job to 75. Getting people to do anything is a chore now, if you're not 75 and doing endgame. I'd rather have a set of quests that seem never ending, and more random drops throughout the world, than some of the crap we have now. Not that I'm bitter, far from it, FFXI is a sweet adventure, but it was more entertaining 5 years ago, when there were far, far less 75s, and more 25s. Plus making the game easier didn't help. I miss the trains of doom.

Looks like SE updated their official FFXIV page a few days ago. The game really seems to be rather similar to FFXI, just with different names (Eg, Armory almost = to Mog House). Which isn't to say this is a bad thing. With updated graphics and maybe some programming changes for security and other various gameplay mechanics, I'd say they could have a winning formula again.

I'm hoping for an Xbox360 release. I'm also happy FFXIII is saving me $400. Can't be an FF fanboy without playing / owning them all.

It would be nice to beta test FFXVI, I wonder if I can sign up.
