Hello Cerberus, some of you'll remember me, others... not so much but I have returned to FFXI. Upon returning i made a few decisions:
1 - no more end game. Not that i didn't like waking up at 4am to hunt a giant turtle around a valley of Sorrow, i just don't want to be so pressured.
2 - I have decided to ditch my two level 75 jobs, Rdm and Pld since i got "hacked" and lost all my sellable high level gear. I am currently leveling Thf and loving it.

and last but not least...

3 - Find some old friends and make/help a simple chat LS. Well, i ran into a friend from the good ole days, Splice. Splice has created a new LS and i jioned in. We are looking to help out new Players or just help out others who are looking for a place to call home.

Anyways, just saying hello and look up Splice or Myself (Dahlgren) if you are looking for an LS. Thanks for reading. ^^

We've learned over the years that if we wanted we could write anything that just felt good and it didn't necessarily have to have any particular meaning to us. Sometimes we sit and read other people's interpretations of our lyrics and think, Hey, that's pretty good. If we liked it, we would keep our mouths shut and just accept the credit as if it was what we meant all along.

You're making a good choice, Dahl. Try out SCH if you miss a mage job. It's loads of fun and you don't need any end-game to enjoy it.

Welcome back, man, long time no see. Sorry to hear you got hacked Smiley: frown

Definitely can't blame you for not wanting to wake up at o'dark thirty and camp HNMs. Scholar is kinda fun, it's like RDM but with no melee ability at all and better magic, but no Refresh. THF can be fun too, from what I've heard.

Hope you enjoy the game. There are plenty of stuff to do -- only thing is really if you love doing it :P. I myself is no big fan of hard core end game, but as usual, some people will always try to make those events more important than it is really is. And I also not try to get myself to distracted by all those crying, ranting, ****

As long as you enjoy what you do, that is most important. It always better if you think "this is cool new trick or toy I can play with," and not "why the heck this never drops."

I myself am trying to get SMN to 75. 70 Avatar BPs are really fun. I am about 14k away from wearing my new Yinyang robe >_>

I know you and two of my former playing friends (and even may be with me, but I did not remember...) had some differences. But times go by and things move on, and this is just a freaking game for fun. Just send me a tell if you need any help :P

I remember you, one of the nicest and most helpful people I met while I was leveling up mnk back in '06. You helped me get my mnk af pants which was a pain to get help for.

I actually am in a similar position, most of the people that I spent the last few years playing with, quit, and the ls's I was in and helped lead have been broken with the remaining members scattered among the servers end-game ls's. I tried the end game ls scene for a couple of weeks and being that I only spend 3-4 hours in the game during the week it really wasn't for me, to really help one of those shells in a significant way the time commitment to the game would have to be much greater. Now i spend most of my time in a social ls with a couple of friends. Aside from the salvage SP I don't really do much in the game anyhow. But sometimes I wish I could still do things like limbus and einherjar to get some of the equipment for the jobs I'm starting to level now.

Don't really know why I went off on this huge tangent about me though, so I'll leave it at that and say Welcome Back, its always good to see good people back on the server!

Most people that have started around my time has either left game or now part of CaptainCaveman, which I am not involved. Most of my Chinese friends have changed servers, but most of my old school Japanese friends are still around.

I still proclaim that Nebz is the best Tarutaru ever existed in Cerberus Vanadiel! (I wish Nebz still read these boardsSmiley: frown; may be he does, and only lurks)

Ranting and wild tangent tend to happen alot after 60, it becomes harder and harder to focus your thoughts. No one holds it against you though, grandpa.

Most more senior players tend to go to "history" old days. Frankly, I prefer the old days. Players were actually more naive >_>.

May be I am "old fashioned", but I tend to make up my own mind to decide what is good, and had developed a mixed taste in what is new, and what was old. Sometimes more "high-tech" or efficient does not necessary make ones happier. Good ole stuff has its merits, so are the new fancy stuff Smiley: glare At least for people that are older, they were given the choice to compare what it was with what it is now.

Oh Dahl, I think you said you were living in Pennsylvania, but you were a Terp fan. Anyway, I work for FSU now, I will probably got get beaten up here if I cheer the Terp in a FSU home game. Hahahaha.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Comparing what I do now, botting, cheating, **** other people over for gil/items for my ls, and being generally disdainful to the population to the way I actually enjoyed this game 2~3 years ago, with Insanesibak and the rest of our group...I would trade everything I ever got pixel wise, and every opportunity I've taken end game wise, to go back to it.

But those days will never happen again, most of the good friends have quit of moved on with life, and I could never feel as comfortable in a social ls as I did in Flungpoo. Just more longing for things to be the way they used to I guess.

**** other people have existed for a long time, but players now are far more gear and achievements orient. Franky, I no longer care to be gear and achievement perfection -- it does not mean I do not pursue a stronger character, it is more about I will be as happy if I do not get the best. I find other player ranting -- "this never drops", "this gear is not the best lol", "I need this gear" as a little excessive. More simply, as long as I am having fun, I will be quite happy about it.

I think the meaning of having fun is lost in obsession of the E-Peen achievements and the parser number game. I have a lot of friends that are happily rolling along even if they are not very skilled, and I have seen angry player ranting as if it is end of the world if their job is not buffed (or nerfed) or some item never drop. Of course, I have seen very skilled and very geared player are happy as well, but their altitude to this game is different with angry ranting players Smiley: smile

Better be relaxed, it is still a game.

I remember you Dahl. I don't play FF anymore, haven't for years, but I do still talk to alot of people from there. Every now and then I peruse the forums just to see how the game is progressing.

Good to see you enjoying the game. I've been dabbling in different games like WoW and AoC. Completely different than FF. Those were the good ole days.
