I'm currently reinstalling FFXI, YET AGAIN!! lol, and I was just wondering if anyone I know is still around, like arumichan, sephknight, thedarkace?

Couple of questions I'd like to ask though:

1. Are there any new EU LS's around?
2. How full is the server these days?
3. I'm completely looking forward to using level sync, however, does the sync also apply to level capped areas like promy? (Obviously I do know the levels WILL sync, lol, what I mean is, will my hauby etc sync in these types of areas?)

4. What state is the economy in at the moment?
5. What new features other than level sync are there? - I quit back in June.
6. Are GaiaLegends still around?

Thanks alot for your time, looking forward to the replies.

....Bah, I hate installing FFXI. lol, about 1 hour to actually install, 30 mins to check files, 7 HOURS to download!... and then theres the install, and rechecking!! lol - I'll be lucky to get into the server by 11pm GMT, and i've been doing this now since around 3pm. Should be worth it in the end though, see you in game chaps!

1. Are there any new EU LS's around?

Depends what you are looking for. Of course they exist, but which one to join will depend what you want out from them.

2. How full is the server these days?

EU times will always be the quietest time of the server >< 3000+ is what you see in Japanese times.

3. I'm completely looking forward to using level sync, however, does the sync also apply to level capped areas like promy? (Obviously I do know the levels WILL sync, lol, what I mean is, will my hauby etc sync in these types of areas?)

Yes, but always remember, the sync gear will always be no better and sometimes not as good than the gear at the appropriate level -- don't expect a Hauby to be godly at low level. What level sync does is more to help out to get PT going.

4. What state is the economy in at the moment?

Slower I will say... just do not expect to get rich fast. But nor you really need a lot of gil anyway... that again depends on what you are looking for in the game. If you want the best stuff, you will have to pay for it, but again it is not necessary to do that. Most important is to be reasonable in within the time you can commit.

5. What new features other than level sync are there? - I quit back in June.

I have yet to try the new Maze Moblin thing.

6. Are GaiaLegends still around?

You have to talk to people in the game to find that out... Tylaar is still around once a while. I think the character (forgot name -- the Elvaan Ninja) that made GaiaLegends was still being played.

Hi Balrock^^
Welcome back, Arumichan and Sephknight still play, Thedarkace is more of a casual player now and just pops in occasionally.

To answer you questions:
1. I believe the main EU LSs are still the same. (At least I'm not aware of any new ones)

2. To be honest i'm not sure how full it gets but I do know since level sync was introduced getting and building parties have been much easier.

3. I agree with Amanada above but would even take it even further that synced gear can be Seriously gimped. Anything minus is kept in full and any pluses are either removed completely or majorly scaled down. I think SE's thinking is level Synched gear will never be as good as the good gear for the level. If you are in capped areas or level syncing I would advise (as DD) to at least get the proper weapon for the level.

4. The economy seems pretty steady atm, although some farmers are crying at the vazhl drops, b blood and bugard drops npc prices being slashed. However, I have noticed AH prices creeping up recently but that could be due to more demand because more people are playing for longer during the Holidays.

5. Main one is Moblin Maze Mongers and new relic quests

6. I not 100% about this but I believe GaiaLegends broke up then SephKnight restarted GaiaLegends and it is still going. I know Arumichan left Cobrakai to join Sephknight in the new GaiaLegends.

This isn't much help, but I saw a few guys with a GaiaLegends pearl last week, so the name is still out there.

I personally myself is neither a super fan of the level syth gear adjustment. I do agree that things like Hauby has to be nerfed to prevent to get Godly before you can use it, but also the adjustment makes it pointless to buy a Vermillion Cloak now for exp. Anyway, I kept all my low level gear for a reason. Being able to level down intentionally to be able to join with a PT does indeed a good addition. The gear part is always the hard part.
