A Pie members recently got hacked, and have taken a huge loss (mostly things that he acquired with him being 100 Clothcrafting). He did got his login back from Square Enix, and is trying to get an account roll back.

The people who stole the account even tossed the level 1 guild gear.

And a warning to Cerberus players:

For people that managed to catch it yesterday (Tuesday), someone by the nick "Kommi" and "Kommission" spammed the whole Allakhazam forum with a web link that had a... key logger. Algren and other forum poster spotted the link quite fast, and the admins here banned "Kommi" and "Kommission" quickly. And the link used to spread the key logger involved the word "Armada."

You may check: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=3;mid=1212538708261041150;num=10;page=1
for the details of that spamming.

I am not convinced that the coincidence between the nick and the link name. But for sure the spammer is a Cerberus player.

I saw that too on KI. My FF blocked the site. And the keylogger was a program that was posted from the Armada webpage.

/sigh... this is really getting old, all this hacking. A handful of folks in my chat LS have had their accounts compromised, even. What a shame...

Whether or not this incident is related, it's probably a good practice to just avoid anyone from Armada in-game anyway. :P They always say on forums, "provide proof" of their malicious doings, but "the proof is in the pudding."

I agree it is not possible to proof Armada causes this spamming thing -- but for sure it is fishy, Armada for sure has a lot of ... people do not like them here in Cerberus.

In Boston, there was the Curse of the Bambino. Anyway, Red Sox won the World Series -- with no Babe nor Roger Clemens, and is all good :P I guess we got the Curse of Cerberus when Maury and LB started all this mess long time ago... we still live with that curse now :P

PS: I myself did not check the link itself. I believe it is too risky to do that, and simply seeing Kommi and Armada already mean a lot to me. I hope KI mods did remove the link on KI too. But Greeny :P you (and other people) are playing with fire if you did check that link imo. I say that because I do not wish another person get hacked again. Greeny you are too good to lose :(

Thanks for the headsup Amanada, a guy in our LS got hacked a couple weeks ago, transferred and all his gear/gil/pop items taken. Luckily he got the gear back, but he's out quite a lot of money and a lot of pop items.

Nobody blamed Kommission on anything. But obviously whoever did this had Kommission, Armada, and Cerberus high end HNMLS in mind. As a HNM outsider, whatever Armada or any other ground king LS does is not my business. But what happened on Tuesday here have crossed the line.

I think you need to check the link I posted to see what the admins had said what happened. Forum admin said:

Dread Lörd Kaolian wrote:

Someone is getting their account stolen -- it is simply happening. And now people even start account theft BS with Cerberus HNM drama. Leave Cerberus HNM drama among yourselves. Leave the other people (it was even posted in the main forum here which all players from all servers and quited players read) who don't care who claim the Cerberus Fafnir and KB alone plz.

I'm the leader of Armada. Now I usually don't make appearances but this obviously warrants one. First off, hats off the the impersonator, anyone that knows me knows me by Kaces. Kommission is just the in-game name of a character and that's all it'll ever be. Secondly, for all you lackies who don't know the current Cerberus drama I'll fill you in.

Odog, the leader of WhirlingWind Mach3? was hacked and brought to the server Odin. While I've not lost any sleep over this I know what it's like to lose an account you've worked so hard on and empathy is in my nature whether you care or not. Due to this his character name was open for the taking and someone in Armada took it.

Now here's where it gets juicy, the obviousness will be compelling. Everyone who knows me knows I was in WhirlingWind and provided them my bot, so they too have access to the bot that was posted on KI and here with keylogger? I don't know I haven't ran a scan on it myself. But WhirlingWind is obviously unhappy I won't do anything to get Odog's name back to him so they're all quite disgruntled over it. Now if it was my guess, it's Odog or someone in WhirlingWind registering Kommission's character name and posting my bot with a keylogger? and what not but I'm not bent over it. Let me provide you with the evidence pointed at them.

The log provided with the keylogged(?) ver of my bot consists of this,
Peryton [POPPeD] Thu Mar 06 23:16:54 2008
[Peryton] was claimed by [Dramion] in 31765ms.
Peryton [ToD] Thu Mar 06 23:18:41 2008

It's my TOD logger and if you look at the person's name it's Dramion who is currently in WhirlingWind.

If you were to look closer in the files provided in the "bot" folder, you would see a "mob_id's.txt". This file's content is only available to users of kAv2 which has long been discontinued, but this file's content was available to WhirlingWind at the time of it's release. As you can see the current version of my bot is version 3 if you've downloaded the impersonators attachment.

Oh, I should probably bring up the fact that if I wanted to key log a file you wouldn't be able to detect it or even know it's from me or Armada. Kudos.

Do not be too negative x.X. People actually camped the ground kings are minority. Although I do buy partially that such HNM has less people camping is because the king LS intimidation and partially because of cheating going on.

Most players will never touch those NMs. But people who actually camp those NMs always like to make themselves in the center stage, which itself is part of intimidation to other players. Ground kings itself is 90% E-Peen anyway. Things like Fafnir is not really that hard to kill.

And the claim for the HNM.

The way 21-24 hour NMs are designed is double edged sword. Things from them are designed to be rare as they are quite good -- not a bad concept itself, but sure a wishful thinking one. SE designers underestimated the desire for Internet "prestige" among gaming geeks and "leet" kiddies:P

Good that there are comparable good things (or even better) can be obtained without ever touching a ground HNM. A lot of ground king gear is valued more for its rarity than actual use now.

I just wish I can do something, but I always stay on top of virus scanners and OS updates. I myself is not a tech guru, but I do use technology and computer has part of my career. Careless and uninformed computer users and people who are out there to cheat others (with little hope to catch them) create a very bad mix.

May be I should ask Obama to support a federal regulation to require computer users to install proper security, and force Microsoft to make their OS not "bootable" unless people do security updates Smiley: dubious

Lol, windows and macs and linux for that matter should have to have decent security developed for their OSs, so people don't have to spend money to buy them. I mean come on, we are paying 1-500 dollars for an OS, the least they can do is try to make them secure.

And lol at the not bootable windows if you aren't up to date.... 95% of Americans would not be able to use computers.... :). That would be hilarious!

Lets see...You cheat in a video game...how much more would it take you to I don't know? Steal from your work? Cheat on your significant other? ETC. And you think I'm going to respect someone that hacks their way to the top of a game and think your sooo cool?

Pffft. Keep dreaming. Keep dreaming.

Green you hit it right on the head.

Cheating in a game is a sign of a behavioral pattern. That's a type of person that I avoid associating with, be it in this game, at work, or when I'm out in a social setting.

Draken, you're just not going to win, let it go.

I could care less if somebody cheats their **** off in a video game, honestly... if it's a single player game. If you like playing games like that on easy mode then you just go right ahead and knock yourself out. It's hacks and bots in online games that are really harmful, you're actually harming somebody else for your own selfish gain, and that's wrong no matter how you slice it.

Best thing is, noone except himself compared ingame behaviour to RL personality.

Defending botting in this game and saying it harms noone.... yeah man totally not bad at all. I see it now. You convinced me. Because the people who use it are nice people in RL. Makes sense now. Thank you.

Also, respect has to be earned to be respected.

Green you hit it right on the head.

Cheating in a game is a sign of a behavioral pattern. That's a type of person that I avoid associating with, be it in this game, at work, or when I'm out in a social setting.

Draken, you're just not going to win, let it go.

Defending botting in this game and saying it harms noone.... yeah man totally not bad at all. I see it now. You convinced me. Because the people who use it are nice people in RL. Makes sense now. Thank you.

I seriously hope this isnt Sarcasm, cause if it is its irrelevant and you know it. Because if it is, means everyone on maurys old botting list were not cool people, cause i knew many people on that list, and i wasnt gonna lets that change my view of the person.

Just Never camped a NM with em. > .>

Please Explain to me how Botting a NM, HNM, Fishing/Synth, harms you.

And no i dont bot, i have always been a Xbox 360 player, Gamertag: Fir360s if you dont believe me.

It's circumventing the game mechanics to give yourself an unfair advantage.

Now, I don't camp, so I could care less who bots and who doesn't, it's not my problem. You asked for an explanation, it's that simple.

It is written black and white in the ToS that anyone caught botting can be banned. SE is at least trying to enforce that rule (people do get banned). The spirit of the rule, is of course, to try to level the playing ground to be fair.

Sometimes there is no way even tell if a bot is there or not anymore. People brag they use bots just to bluff people away from camping HNM.

Not really unfair if your good at claiming, ive beaten alot of bots at getting NMs.
Not Hard if you actually apply yourself, only few shells have tried and they have been successful but others give up to easy or dont try, so saying unfair advantage isnt gonna cut it.

Life isnt fair suck it up princess.

It isnt Illegal till u get caught. > .>

Better live a life that you feel confident to walk around freely without fear, then to live in fear and shame. Sometimes pushing the rules to the extreme and create confrontations does not really benefit yourself -- a concept that a lot of people, even adults, do not understand. Neither a lot of people understand it is often better to share joy, and not the joy by being superior and masters of others.

I guess some people are raised differently in terms of respect and ethics. People only claim life is unfair is because they are spoiled with the advantage to begin with. I know this is a game, and I am playing with a lot of strangers. Just because they are strangers or an avatar that they do not deserve to be treated and respected as a human.

Just because it does not harm you, it does not make it right.

I do agree something should be resolved more within the group involved. Cheating in the game does affect other -- people are bluffed away from camping those NMs, people do not enjoy the fun to camp such NM because of the drama it may stir.

It has nothing to do whether I know I can beat a bot. It has more to deal with I do not want to put up with a bot and knowing people next to you is going to do whatever it takes to win.

Not everyone care about the pressure of SE rules, some people have the mind state of "Hey if i get Banned for botting, ***** it ill just pop in my Call Of duty 4 and have some fun on a different game..."

Once that is done only thing in your way is 3 hours, Paying attention, and spamming your claim macro quick enough.

some people like to be superior, in a way we were made this way, you gotta fight to make it to the top, either way you put it, theres always a scenario in this game where anyone is your competition.

If everyone can have a Relic, or a ridill, it would defeat the purpose of making the item. Me as well as other people like to be the best but to be able to Be distinguished from other ppl by just observing rare gear that hardly no one has.

This in some people eyes is in a way is being superior.
If i monopolize something, guess what that is? ^

To those of you who worry about HNMLS monopolizing HNMS.
Do the Following:

-Get better at claiming

-Hop your A** on FFXI-app and buy a bot

-Or stfu and go to WoW

I, don't think I ever said it did. I was merely answering your question, but good try hero!

Edit: I bet this dude totally jacks my account tomorrow.

Edit 2: (Yeah yeah, it's late) In regards to your competition of other players. I don't compete against other players. I compete WITH other players, against monsters.

(But you did sound really cool with your ending statement there pal)

First of all, i never directly accused you of botting Draken, i just can't understand why you defend botting in this game and say it can't harm anyone.

Shall i give a few examples?

1) The drops have changed, but not too long ago it was almost impossible to get O.Kote, Fuma Kyahan, Monster Signa, Thief's Knife etc, cause the NMs were camped by RMT bots Luckily SE changed the drops to Rare/Ex. Or the infamous botted Ulikummi spawns before his pop conditions were changed? How did this not harm normal players who wanted the respective equipment?

2) Botting Morbolger for the brown belt item. How did this not harm normal MNKs who wanted to finish the quest?

3) Choco digging bots. After a few digs, a zone is empty. Normal choco diggers have it much harder to dig anything up. Additionally, due to the bots the fatigue limit for digging was set to 100 or 200 i think - result: It now takes at least a year to get the highest digging rank. How did this not harm normal players?

4) The notorious fishing bots. You might not know this, but a zone can be fished empty too. After a while you can't catch anything anymore. You have no chance to pull up stuff as fast as the fishbots, or being able to select what you want to pull up exactly. Fishing Fatigue sucks too, after 200 fish you have to wait for next JP day to be able to fish again. This was implemented due to fishbots. How did this not harm the normal fishermen?

5) Pos-hacking mining bots in Ifrit's Cauldron, Mount Zhayolm, Halvung etc. Players were not being able to mine anything, cause the mining bots pos hacked from one mining point to another, leaving the normal miners who had to dodge aggro nothing at all. How did this not harm the normal players who wanted to mine for some money?

6) King Arthro is still botted for the Velocious belt. How does this not harm other players who want this belt?

7) Synthing bot. Obviously, you are NOT crafting. Obviously you are not trying to craft stuff and sell it for profit. Have you ever tried it? In many cases friends ask me to synth stuff for them, and most of the time (if they don't want signed stuff) i say: go to AH, it is cheaper than synthing it. in 90% of the cases, you make a loss if you NQ. Tell me, how do you want to compete with a crafting but that churns out Sole Sushi 24/7, getting its ingredients from other fishing bots. The crafting bot has no expenses, and they can synth all day. I bet you, you can't even stand synthing 2 hours or 3 hours, that stuff gets boring. So how does this not harm the normal crafters.

See, there are your examples that you wanted how botting harms me. Also notice that i didn't even get into HNM botting.

It is not about competition like you suspected, and not about being outclaimed. It is about being outclaimed by a bot, that stood afk at the other end of the zone, and suddenly came to life when the NM spawns, warps across the room and instant-claims. Yeah, totally fun, doesn't harm me. Nope.

Please just don't defend botting, because it doesn't harm you or because your friends bot/LS bots. Concerning your FFXIApp example: I had a friend who was in Whirling Wind who quit. He showed me a screenshot where he used some tool or plugin to remove the darters at Fafnir camp. I told him he's an @#%^ for botting. I was not: Oh you're cool and we chat over ICQ so it is ok you're botting. At least he had a bad conscience about it. No i didn't tell him to leave me alone, i still talked to him, and he is a cool guy in RL. But that doesn't mean i have to accept his botting. Yes, i don't repect people INGAME who bot or buy gil. For whatever reason.

Honestly, if you want to be proud because your LS botted a sword for you, that's cool. I am rather proud that i accomplished a lot in this game without the support of a big HNM LS.

I distinguish myself from others by having almost all quests in this game completed, have almost all maps, have some rare titles, have a craft at 100, i QUESTED Lu Shang (meaning i fished up 10,000 carps).

See, not for everyone in this game it is all about having the super pimp best equipment. If it is the way you enjoy your game, by meriting all day and camping HNM and getting nice and good drops from them, it is all well if you do that. I won't walk up to you and say: HNM camping is boring sh*t, meriting is boring, don't do it, all HNM campers are losers or whatever.
But please accept that my way of enjoying this game is not in doing endgame, meriting and HNM, and don't say stuff like you are superior to me or a better player cause your LS bots Fafnir or zergs Dynamis Lord in 12 nanoseconds.

Don't think you are better than the other player cause he doesn't have Adaman Hauberk or Crimson Cuisses. Respect others, and you get respected.

Long post indeed ^-^

Sorry but this has turned into some major LOL!

Draken, sorry buddy, but you are a moron. Now I am really glad I denied your application from our linkshell a while back. I am usually one to give someone the benefit of the doubt, but with you, just ...no. Glad I went with my gut on that one.
