A Pie members recently got hacked, and have taken a huge loss (mostly things that he acquired with him being 100 Clothcrafting). He did got his login back from Square Enix, and is trying to get an account roll back.

The people who stole the account even tossed the level 1 guild gear.

And a warning to Cerberus players:

For people that managed to catch it yesterday (Tuesday), someone by the nick "Kommi" and "Kommission" spammed the whole Allakhazam forum with a web link that had a... key logger. Algren and other forum poster spotted the link quite fast, and the admins here banned "Kommi" and "Kommission" quickly. And the link used to spread the key logger involved the word "Armada."

You may check: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=3;mid=1212538708261041150;num=10;page=1
for the details of that spamming.

I am not convinced that the coincidence between the nick and the link name. But for sure the spammer is a Cerberus player.

I saw that too on KI. My FF blocked the site. And the keylogger was a program that was posted from the Armada webpage.

/sigh... this is really getting old, all this hacking. A handful of folks in my chat LS have had their accounts compromised, even. What a shame...

Whether or not this incident is related, it's probably a good practice to just avoid anyone from Armada in-game anyway. :P They always say on forums, "provide proof" of their malicious doings, but "the proof is in the pudding."

I agree it is not possible to proof Armada causes this spamming thing -- but for sure it is fishy, Armada for sure has a lot of ... people do not like them here in Cerberus.

In Boston, there was the Curse of the Bambino. Anyway, Red Sox won the World Series -- with no Babe nor Roger Clemens, and is all good :P I guess we got the Curse of Cerberus when Maury and LB started all this mess long time ago... we still live with that curse now :P

PS: I myself did not check the link itself. I believe it is too risky to do that, and simply seeing Kommi and Armada already mean a lot to me. I hope KI mods did remove the link on KI too. But Greeny :P you (and other people) are playing with fire if you did check that link imo. I say that because I do not wish another person get hacked again. Greeny you are too good to lose :(

Thanks for the headsup Amanada, a guy in our LS got hacked a couple weeks ago, transferred and all his gear/gil/pop items taken. Luckily he got the gear back, but he's out quite a lot of money and a lot of pop items.

Hello

Id like to give my opinion about this...
1 = im in armada ls and for you people to say "Stay away from armada members" is just /emo... we arent bad people...
2 = how you gonna blame kommission when any damn person can make a login on this website called Kommi ...

to tell you the truth people just starting sh*t and dont know how to f**k off and play the damn game

Nobody blamed Kommission on anything. But obviously whoever did this had Kommission, Armada, and Cerberus high end HNMLS in mind. As a HNM outsider, whatever Armada or any other ground king LS does is not my business. But what happened on Tuesday here have crossed the line.

I think you need to check the link I posted to see what the admins had said what happened. Forum admin said:

Someone is getting their account stolen -- it is simply happening. And now people even start account theft BS with Cerberus HNM drama. Leave Cerberus HNM drama among yourselves. Leave the other people (it was even posted in the main forum here which all players from all servers and quited players read) who don't care who claim the Cerberus Fafnir and KB alone plz.

I'm the leader of Armada. Now I usually don't make appearances but this obviously warrants one. First off, hats off the the impersonator, anyone that knows me knows me by Kaces. Kommission is just the in-game name of a character and that's all it'll ever be. Secondly, for all you lackies who don't know the current Cerberus drama I'll fill you in.

Odog, the leader of WhirlingWind Mach3? was hacked and brought to the server Odin. While I've not lost any sleep over this I know what it's like to lose an account you've worked so hard on and empathy is in my nature whether you care or not. Due to this his character name was open for the taking and someone in Armada took it.

Now here's where it gets juicy, the obviousness will be compelling. Everyone who knows me knows I was in WhirlingWind and provided them my bot, so they too have access to the bot that was posted on KI and here with keylogger? I don't know I haven't ran a scan on it myself. But WhirlingWind is obviously unhappy I won't do anything to get Odog's name back to him so they're all quite disgruntled over it. Now if it was my guess, it's Odog or someone in WhirlingWind registering Kommission's character name and posting my bot with a keylogger? and what not but I'm not bent over it. Let me provide you with the evidence pointed at them.

The log provided with the keylogged(?) ver of my bot consists of this,
Peryton [POPPeD] Thu Mar 06 23:16:54 2008
[Peryton] was claimed by [Dramion] in 31765ms.
Peryton [ToD] Thu Mar 06 23:18:41 2008

It's my TOD logger and if you look at the person's name it's Dramion who is currently in WhirlingWind.

If you were to look closer in the files provided in the "bot" folder, you would see a "mob_id's.txt". This file's content is only available to users of kAv2 which has long been discontinued, but this file's content was available to WhirlingWind at the time of it's release. As you can see the current version of my bot is version 3 if you've downloaded the impersonators attachment.

Oh, I should probably bring up the fact that if I wanted to key log a file you wouldn't be able to detect it or even know it's from me or Armada. Kudos.

Do not be too negative x.X. People actually camped the ground kings are minority. Although I do buy partially that such HNM has less people camping is because the king LS intimidation and partially because of cheating going on.

Most players will never touch those NMs. But people who actually camp those NMs always like to make themselves in the center stage, which itself is part of intimidation to other players. Ground kings itself is 90% E-Peen anyway. Things like Fafnir is not really that hard to kill.

And the claim for the HNM.

The way 21-24 hour NMs are designed is double edged sword. Things from them are designed to be rare as they are quite good -- not a bad concept itself, but sure a wishful thinking one. SE designers underestimated the desire for Internet "prestige" among gaming geeks and "leet" kiddies:P

Good that there are comparable good things (or even better) can be obtained without ever touching a ground HNM. A lot of ground king gear is valued more for its rarity than actual use now.

I was reading this and had to post. I'm sad to hear about people getting their accounts hacked. You hear in game about it, and never really give it much thought till its someone you know. I'm glad to read that you are still on top of things in the forums Amanada. I just wanted to give yah a good old "That A Boy" pat on the back.

I just wish I can do something, but I always stay on top of virus scanners and OS updates. I myself is not a tech guru, but I do use technology and computer has part of my career. Careless and uninformed computer users and people who are out there to cheat others (with little hope to catch them) create a very bad mix.

May be I should ask Obama to support a federal regulation to require computer users to install proper security, and force Microsoft to make their OS not "bootable" unless people do security updates Smiley: dubious
