Exchanging starter city OutpostsFollow

#1 Mar 17 2008 at 9:15 AM Rating: Decent
I have been curious what it would take to gain control of the OP for another starter city, just long enough to claim it for warping. I recall getting access to Sandy's OP a couple of years back, but I have changed nations since then and lost it.

What do you think the odds would be of a collaborative effort to systematically "exchange" OP for a week so we can all have easy warp access to other starter cities? I know W. Saru was taken from Windy once, but I heard it required alot of gil on the part of the participants, mainly from synthing low lvl weapons and trading to OP NPC. I know I wouldn't block Sandy or Bastok's efforts to gain the Windy OP if they were willing to do the same for us.

Does anyone have any info or suggestions on just what would be involved in such an effort?

Nearly all attempts of home area takeover is done by trading a lot of items to the outpost guards. The guards also only takes equipments -- so they will take a fishing bait but not a spell scroll or beewax.

If you want to do this "cheaply," then you need a lot of players doing it the same time. I think if you drag a whole LS out, you mean see some difference.

Another way to shift the balance is from exping, that is usually hard to do since starter areas tend to earn only limited amount of exp.

Thanks for the info Ama.

Perhaps this would be a good place to organize such an effort. Anyone out there willing to participate in a home grown player event?

^I was pretty sure we quit around the same months ago. You deleted your characters??

I did that once and still regret it, but I didn't do it with my taru thankfully.

And it's insane, but one can level as high as 18 in starter zones if they wanted to. I can get to 15 without leaving ronfaure =P. I guess you can lvl new characters to no end and shift control that way. Make new, lvl high, delete, make new. etc =P

IMO the best OP in the game is Bastok OP. 1 1/2 hr ride to bastok {No Thanks}.

I regret losing Kyrin pretty much everyday.

So much to do now, so little help for it. Sitting outside Selbina as I type this lfg for my BRD. In the old days, if I didn't want to party, I would have to /anon or just ignore every tell.

Like it wasn't hard enough before...

Count me in, I have been wanting to get Windy/Bastok outpost for some time now. I think a good time would be right around a Saturday night/Sunday morning before the conquest update.

A rotation like:

First week: Sandy > Windy > Bastok > Sandy
Second week: Windy > Sandy > Bastok > Windy

The reason I didn't switch back to Bastok to finish my rank 10:
I got all outpost warp from Windurst including to starter areas N Gusterburg and W Ron.x.X

Yep as stated the best way to do it would be to trade a substantial amount of items to the outpost.

A planned attack a few hours before JP Midnight was how we did it a couple years ago. I do not know who all the players were on those nights but I do know they spent upwards of 500,000 into the millions buying mats for equipment.

I will never change my allegiance to Bastok because I do not want to lose my OP to Ronfare and Saruta.

I haven't done one since |I used to be in a LS called Windurstian Special Forces, but I was under the impression the best way to gain influence in an area was to get a party together and do Expeditionary Forces into that area.
I think expeditionary forces have fallen out of favour and are hardly done any more but i'm sure it gives you nore influence in the area than trading equipment to Guards.

I don't believe there is an expeditionary force mission for starting zones such as Saruta or Gustaburg.

Gustaburg's Outpost is actually the worst since it is so far from Bastok in comparison to the other Outposts.

With the new expansion, having those starter outposts don't seem to be as beneficial as they once were.

Acually, you could outpost to North Gust., then take the flower warp for a quick way to Bastok.

What is the flower warp? Not that it matters, since N. Gusta is the only OP warp I don't have....
