Help me.Follow

#1 Nov 27 2007 at 10:13 AM Rating: Decent
Just started playing on Saturday. Never played anything like this before. I am beyond uber green.

I have somehow managed to get to Level 9 with the help of a few kind strangers, but I am really lost. Even managed to join in a few groups and did some group quests.

Looking for an extremely generous and patient soul to help me out and point me in the right direction. Not looking for small talk, just want to get a grasp on the game.

I am more than willing to do tons of research to understand the game, but the vast amount of info is a bit overwhelming.

Find out what a LS is first before you try anything else. All you need to do is to read the manual and talk to people in the game. That is how you really get started.

Check the PlayOnline User's Guide for starters.

http://www.playonline.com/ff11newplayer/index.html?lang=en

If you see people with what look like a pearl beside their names, that is a Linkpearl (from a Linkshell). Linkshells are a way to communicated between a group of people that have the similar interests/activities.

You need to find yourself a starter linkshell that will give you some help for the game. Personally I don't know of one so can't help you there.

If you get stuck and have a question on something send me a tell in game and if I can I will help you.

Have good adventures!

I completely agree with you. This entire game is overwhelming because there is so much content that it's ridiculous to find a true starting point and follow it.

There's leveling, partying, questing, crafting, mining, fishing, ballisting, mobfighting (or whatever they call it), and even five different major storylines to follow...

But yes, the best thing from what I've seen so far is the option of checking the player's guide on www.playonline.com. The next step would be to get a linkshell without a doubt.

So what else is from there?

Well, it's your choice really.

For following the main FFXI story line, you may want to try to complete some rank missions, which can be obtained from your home city usually near an entrance or exit to the zones outside of those cities.

Questing is a great way to get familiar with the game. You can check in your quest log to see what you have available. Those are received by talking to NPCs. Questing will also benefit you in the long run, allowing you to obtain higher fame. Higher fame will help in the long run.

Crafting, fishing, and mining are ways to get items that can be sold. These items are typically sold at the Auction House AKA AH.

The most typical and popular route to take is leveling. About level 10-12, people start grouping together in Valkurn Dunes in parties of six. Party setups usually consist of:

1 tank
1 healer
1 support
3 damage dealers

This generalization shouldn't be taken to heart though.

I hope this helps a little.

Good luck adventuring!

I am not often online, but you are more than welcome to ask any silly questions should you find me logged on.

Don't think that you are supposed to know it all, cause you never will. I have been playing this game for over 3 years and I am still a newber.

I can also be found as Renegade and Kashmiir at times.

If I'm online, I wouldn't mind answering a few questions at all.

To find me, just type in:

/sea all Furionstormrage

If my name pops up, type in:

/tell Furionstormrage (Whatever you want to say to me here)

If you want an LinkShell that has high level people who like to help new players learn to be good players, then give me or one of our other LS LEaders a /tell.

Duhkha
Phyrefly
Vegetaspride
Linkbmw
Apolonario

All are sack holders and are online A LOT
