Old hand here, looking to maybe come back.

So basically, I haven't played for well over a year, my account is cancelled and characters surely long-gone. But I sat last night listening to the whole FFXI soundtrack, and it got me all nostalgic. This game, there's something about it that makes you WANT to see things through, at the very least, get a good job to the level cap, see all the Missions, and everything like that. So I'm thinking of having another go at this Vana'diel business.

What's Cerberus like these days? How's the economy and atmosphere, if such things can be described? Down to more specifics, how's the level spread and population? I'm probably going to be leveling up a Red Mage, or a Warrior (and at least two or three subs for each one), do we have an overabundance of either of those, or will I not have a purely hellish time trying to find groups to level, and groups for Missions (and I mean all the damn missions, original, Zilart, Promathia, Aht-Urghwateverthehellit'scalled).

Old character's name was Lansiron (and later, Aseran) by the way. If any of you knew me, or leveled with me, or even stole a mob from me like you do, I say to you a hearty "HAIL BASTOK!"

Edit: Scratch that, even if you didn't know me, "HAIL BASTOK!" anydamnway. It's been like three years since I was REALLY active, so I'm probably a distant memory even at best!

Welcome Back Aseran,

The economy has been pretty good for the last 8 months or more. You can check out the Jeuno AH for all servers at ffxiah.com
That will give you a idea of prices and whatnot.

I only play a few nights a week because of real life. I haven't had any problems getting parties for my Warrior.

If you need a LinkShell when you come back, please check us out. Our website is Bladesingers.us

We have many different job levels, do missions, quests, and so on.

Good Luck and once again....

Welcome Back!

Thanks for the welcome.

I found out a few old friends of mine are in a Linkshell named something like "Beware of Kittens" (most of them play Mithra, go figure) or something to that effect. Like as not I'll pick up a pearl for them, but it looks as if a lot of the old folks I hung out with are likely long since gone. I'll be looking to make some new friends.

That's my real hangup about coming back, anyway, getting really back into the social aspect of things, and having to build a lot of that back up from the ground up. Lots of good memories here.

My first LS was called "Crusaders", though I think the name has long-sice been taken by an HNM-centric LS of completely unrelated people, then for a short time when I came back, I was in with a few good folks in something called, coincidentally enough, "ShortBus Crusaders", though I didn't stay for longer than a month at most, I made some good progress and they even got me through the Promyvion missions--great folks, they was.

Alas, that character's gone, surely. Might be time to start completely on a new track...I'm wondering, though, if I ought to set back on my old path of being a Warrior (and the best one possible, I freaking love the class) or try something a bit different and play a Red Mage (and likelier than not get faster invites), or hell, something else entirely.

I've got until next paycheck, when I can resubscribe, a week and a half from now, to figure that out. :)

You may be able to get you character re-instated as long as you dont create one in its slot. Its worth a phone call to SE to find out.

You won't have any trouble getting parties on your Warrior or Red Mage. In post-ToAU Vana'D, those jobs are highly sought after in TP-Burn setups, which is damn near every party. Black Mage has kind of lost some steam in the xp party arena, which is sad, but, welcome back, nonetheless.

Sadly no more SBC... The bus broke and had to be hawled away to the bus graveyard. The whole gang pretty much drifted to others LSs after that.
