Depends on what you want. NY NY is pretty fun for clubs, night life, Broadway, and that kind of stuff. If you want affordable, try out the state of Maine. You can go to Mount Desert Island (Bar Harbor) and stay in one of the most beautiful costal areas in the world. The weather is more comfortable in the summer and it offers an oppertunity to see nature in a way that is amazing to say the least. We (maine) are called the "Vacation" state for a reason. Fly into Bangor international Airpot and catch 1A to the coast. Driving in Maine is a lot easier than any other new england state.

Things to see in Bar Harbor:

Whale watch boats
TONS of hiking and biking
Quaint downtown for shopping and Night life (which is pretty fun in the summer months)

Essentially, Maine's motto, "The way life should be" is pretty accurate.

Personally, for in US vacations, I tend to like the following in order:

1. Maine Coast
2. Vegas (gambling and night life)
3. Hawian Island (awsome place but gat ready to shell out the $)
4. LA (hollywood and Venice Beach are stand outs)
5. Washington DC (Free national museums, the Library of Congress, and the national mall can eat a week easy)
6. New York, NY (Broadway, Night life, but I don't like this city personally. I am a huge Red Sox (baseball) fan and am not allowed to like NY really ^^)

Just wondering, but where are you coming from?

Don't go to America. Go to Toronto and eat Chinese food. That is all you need :3 Toronto got the best Asian cuisine without being in Asia.

NYC fun, but expensive!! I work in the city, hotels are lil over 120 a night, for a decent place. If you gonna come down here, i would wait till June, when the weather starts to become warmer, and not alter between 75 one day, then 55 the next. But if you do have a few dollars saved up, I would recomend Key West, in Florida. Its absoulty beautiful, between driving on the bridge then runs for miles, to the beachs and sunsets. Plus, you can walk around with a beer in your hand, and the cops wont bother you. Night life there is fun, always a party going on. If you google a resturant called "Crabby Bills", they have a live cam of the place, u can look on it and see how the people are dressed, and see some of the parties.

New York maybe. That is one of the most fun places that I have ever visited. There's something for everyone there and you don't have to worry about the nastiness that is LA. However, you could visit Las Vegas, but unless you're loaded, don't go there. There's too much temptation to gamble and other things (prostitution is legal in Nevada execpt within the city limits of Las Vegas).

Honestly, it really depends upon what you're looking to do as to where you should go. There are so many places in the US to go and so many things to see. Hell, I've lived in the US my entire life (29yrs) and have only seen a portion (I've driven across the country 3 times mind you). It's a big place with a lot to see.

Oh yeah, whatever you do, don't go to Detroit... There are two reasons, 1) it's stinky and it just sucks (execpt for the Joe Louis Arena and Comerica Park) and 2) Wunderkind is from Detroit

Agreed. Specially about going to NYC in June. Although going to NYC during Xmas sound all good and fun it's simply just waaaay too busy. Key West is good to go out and relax and the night life is ok I guess... I recommend Miami for night life though. Orlando if you want to go to endless Theme Parks...cause straight up...you can go a whole 2 weeks just going to Theme Parks there.
