Thoughts: Server Wide Linkshell?Follow

Here's what you have to consider here.

1.) How many people will hang out in this shell on a regular basis, compared to their respective social shells?

2.) How many people already filter out shouts because they get annoying?

3.) It would probably cause immense amounts of lag to "broadcast chat" to every single player in the game.

Kind of on the same topic, but..

I played this cheesy MMO, which my ex still plays called Scions of Fate.

It's a grind game with no real point, just anime style graphics and blah gameplay.

Point of the matter is, they have a 'house' system similar to guilds, or linkshells. Which would be the equivalent to all your gathering needs.. The one thing they devised was something called a 'Lions Roar'

It's a server wide system to 'talk' to everyone that is currently logged into the game. What if there was a way to channel/filter certain text in-game to allow people that are looking/interested in XP/merit parties, missions, questing, help, adventuring to swap to that channel and gain access to people that are similarly looking for certain aspects of the game.

Lord of the Rings Online has it in their gameplay.

Click a tab and you're in the 'looking for fellowship' chat.

etc, etc.

Theres only a certain amount of users aloud per linkshell. To do something like this you would have to have everyone get Teamspeak or another such program.

i think you kinda summed it all up..

i think in-game channels to switch to when you need or want something specific in-game would be an awesome addition still.

the ps2 has functional voice chat?

you gotta remember that the game was originally developed for the PS2 back around 2000.

As far as function goes now, yea. It should definitely be inevitable for them to introduce SOMETHING. The way I see it though is that they're continously just trying to add new content in hopes they can achieve stability among subscribers.

Hopefully sometime soon they'll introduct something.

It would be alright, so long as said "world" LS channel isn't on all the time. Otherwise it'd be like carrying around a radio with no off switch tapping into Whitegate shoutspam 24/7. I think that would drive me batty.
