Gear changes in 1 yearFollow

Well, I'm trying to come back to the game after 1 year away. Pretty much everything valuable I had was either donated or sold after I left.

In 1 year, the game probably changed a lot regarding new gear, so I'm not sure yet where to start. I want some advice on how to determine my priorities. Since I have multiple jobs, I didn't want to post the same thread on different forums, I believe I can have some good feedback here.

This is my resumè as of now:

SMN

Gone gear: All of the HQ staves (only Light+Dark now),Astral Ring,Austere Hat
Relevant R/EX gear left: Yinyang Robe, Nashira Hands+Feet+Head,Carbuncle Mitts,Evoker's Ring, Tamas Ring, AF+1 Feet, Full Yigit set, Zenith Legs Abjuration, Loquacious Earring, Magnetic Earring

Looks like I'm good to go with SMN as long as I get the elemental staves back + a strap and some minor stuff


WHM
===
Gone gear: Noble's Tunic, Astral Ring, Ether Ring, Blessed Briault
R/EX gear: 4/5 relic armor (miss hands), Zenith Crown, Loquacious Earring, Magnetic Earring, Rostrum Pumps, AF+1 Hands+Head, Full Yigit

For WHM, I believe it's mostly Noble + strap and some hMP gear I had as well

BLM
===
Gone gear: Penitent's Rope, Elemental Torque, Enfeebling Torque, All of the HQ staves (only Light+Dark now), Sorcerer's Ring, Uggalepih Pendant, Snow Ring, Phantom Tathlum

Relevant R/EX gear: Moldavite, Diabolos's Pole, AF+1 Hat+Body+Hands, 5/8 of sea Obis(Fire/Ice/Thunder/Light/Dark), Abyssal Earring, Relic Hands+Legs, Full Yigit

I suppose I need to focus on Elemental Staves now, followed by Elemental/Enfeebling Torque and Uggalepih. Again, a strap.


Is that approach good? Or there are better options among the new gear introduced on the last year? Just an additional info, I started with 10k only, not enough even for doing Limbus (just broke the 100k barrier, but there is A LOT to do yet), so I'm sticking with cheaper options for now. ;;

SMN is pretty much ready. Of course, HQ staves would be welcome, but it's not a MAJOR issue.

Noble's Tunic for WHM, yeah, it makes a difference. But that's all.

BLM is pretty nerfed without Elemental Torque, Uggalepih Pendant and Penitent's Rope. That means lower MAB, lower INT and higher resists. The worst of all points of view XD. I was hoping that some new gear was introduced to replace that. I guess there's only Salvage gear, but that takes a LOT of time to get.

As you've mentioned, your SMN sounds pretty much complete sans the staves. There's a nice assault item you can get for a Cape (Intensifying Cape, LV60 HP+30 MP+30) for a back piece and it would take little effort. I don't know how far you are into Assault so I couldn't reccomend exact ones, although if you're rank 3+ you can do Evade & Escape for 1,100/run with 3 people. As for Earrings & Neck, there is also decent Assault Items for those slots if you're looking. I notice you mention having Loq.Earring & Magnetic so you're most likely fine on the earring end. Grandiose Chain is an item from Ilrusi that you could snag pretty quick.

Aside from the usual farming or KSNM'ing you could keep up w/assaults & sell the items for some nice money. Prior to doing salvage 5x a week I used to sell Chiv.Chains & Potent Belts for money. (Also, spent like 100k+ in Lebros Cavern from Evade & Escapes to get Bob his Katana D: took 60+ runs, lol)

As far as your WHM gear goes, it also doesn't seem too bad. I use Cleric's Briault on WHM for a few reasons (the main being i'm a cheap bastard). I would try pairing Tamas + Ether along with your earrings and you'd be fine.

Since you're a tarutaru my first recomendation for BLM would be to get Sweet Sachet since it's essentially a "free" phantom tathlom. The sachet is LV30 INT+2, the main difference being the tathlom has +10 MP and a significantly higher level requirement. As for belt, there's also a "free" Penitent's Rope (more/less) floating around in the WOTG areas. It's called Sothic Rope and it's INT+4 MND+4 Full Moon: INT+6 MND+6. It would serve as a free/low cost waist item. It's off a new ??? NM and you could get some EXP while grabbing some pops. Aside from that, there's really no replacement for the torques as of recent, so those will have to be purchased.

Lastly, if you're looking into some grips and you don't want to spend too much, look up a crafter. I know it sounds redundant but the materials for Bugard+1 and Raptor+1 are pretty easy to farm and if you find an old leathercraft friend you can get it done relitively low-cost. I know some people too if you need any help and i'm sure some of these guys/girls on Alla know some people as well.

Just thought i'd throw some of the low-cost gear out there for ya. There's a lot in Assault Items / WOTG NMs that can serve as decent equipment as you get yourself going. Oh, and if you're feeling lucky Taster's Cape is supposibly a good WHM cape if you bring poison potions along, but man that pop item is impossible. D:
