Black Belt: Quick QuestionFollow

Okay, so here's the deal.
I'd like my belt one of these days, I'm getting old.
My options are thus:

1.) Beat Yumeormabaroshi, Duckn, Millenium, or any other of our high-end linkshells to claim.
* Pros: I would feel as though I earned the belt myself.
* Cons: lol, it's not happening.

2.) KS99
* Pros: Again, feeling of self-worth, potential for getting gil.
* Cons: I'm 0/13 on Horns of War and 0/1 on Early Bird. Too unlucky to make this work.

3.) I buy the item from a linkshell.
* Pros: I don't have to join an HNMLS to get it, it's quick, easy, and kinda painless, since I generally know ToD on all three of the ground gods most days.
* Cons: Guilty conscience, I go broke.

The reason I'm posting is that yeah, I've been gone a while. Elvis came and took me up to space in his Interstellar Star Cruiser, it's been two years, I'm back, etc, etc, got the suction cup marks and the transmitter and everything. I'd like to know what most linkshells sell single items or sets for when it comes to Black Belt.

A Google translate on Duckn's site revealed that they're still charging 3,000,000 for sets, which was the price when I left. Have they just not updated their site, or is a million gil still about the going rate? Just seeing how it's going on our beloved Caitsith, and weighing my options.

Also, most informative post gets a cookie that is totally not two years old or more.

You earned your gil, so you earned the right to buy whatever the hell you want with it. Good on you for having enough gil to do that. I am proud of you.

Why invest time in an HNMLS for this item when you already invested time in making gil which you could equally spend on this item?

I think I'm gonna start showing up at camps to try and see what's going on first hand, probably Behemoth first. I think the window'll fall after Dynamis tonight.

Also, good idea about checking with the NAs. Duckn's website was pretty intimidating, so I guess I kinda forgot about that route.

More than likely, though, I'd end up at a few NQ pops while trying to find out when Kings are due again, anyway. If the item shows up, even though it's just a 10% shot, it's still worth trying, especially since I'm not camping the monster and competing for claim, I'm just camping the LSs that camp the monster. But still, seems like around 80-100 people showing up in Behemoth's Dominion, Dragon's Aery, or Valley of Sorrows would point to a King, I believe? Could just find 'em on search and save myself the effort.

I have killed many NQ kings. I wish could say the drop rate was 10%.

Man, I think that egg NQ wise was rarer then dalmatica ever was during that time.

Last time I did any type of end game related thing (November of last year maybe..?) NQ turtle was always empty. Hell, even some HQ times it was empty.

Wonder what it's like now.

Bring Meds. His breath attacks go through Shadows.

(I got him to 60%ish solo. And while it took a good 20 minutes, it was worth it just to make all the people wait for TOD/Claim)

His breath attacks hit me for 300+. I hit him for 20-40 with meat, & it took me 20 minutes to take off 40%ish of his HP.

He's built to outlast us.

Not to sure if ur being serious about trying but its near impossible to pull and claim without adds and i dont think its soloable by anyjob without going into rage mode, tho i might be wrong about that, think rdm can maybe. Just get 2 friends and go after Aspi has popped, near enough a free nq turtle

I had two Raptor adds during my solo attempt. Hundred Fists took care of em' though.

If NQ Adamantoise rages, it's probably 30 minutes. From what I remember of the rage update, the weaker the monster, the faster the rage, to ensure that one person can't stall ToD into Japanese primetime, like what used to happen.

Me, Leary, & Lhayla trio'd it no problem as MNK, NIN, & BLM. Lhayla slept the raptors, I took the birds that linked (as they're hard to sleep w/out a bard), and we made darkness when we could which Lhayla bursted.

Thanks, everyone, for the responses. =) Next stop's just to track the bastard down and attempt it. If I can get the egg, that'll put me down to just needing two items. If I could do the same and nab an NQ Behemoth or three for that drop, it'd just reduce me to needing a Wyrm Beard. And even if my drop rate sucks, hey, it's better to at least make some progress towards it than to sit here and just want it. Gonna just start wandering my ass to Valley of Sorrows periodically today and see if I can't find him and try him out.

Pretty sad that they're willing to say no to 1mil...that sucks.
