How are roleplayers nerds? Saying this is just like saying every hollywood movie star is a nerd. :P
Roleplaying is just like acting. You play a character that either has or does not have the same type of personality as yourself, irl. The same goes for hollywood actors, play out according to their characters in the movie, whether that character has the same personality as the actor irl or not. Both roleplayers and actors put effort into their character's acting.
The only difference is roleplayers have full control of their characters, they can choose what type of personality and attitude their charcters have, they can choose what road their character will walk. Unlike actors who must play out their character according wo what is written in a script. Even though I'm not an actor myself, I can imagine how boring that can be.
Roleplayers are allowed to bring their imaginations and creativity to fruitition. They are not limited by a pre-written script. They have full control of their characters.
I've RPed D&D before, and yes, it is fun. Although sometimes it does feel kind of cheesy trying to play a character that has a totally different personality than you do.
I love roleplaying.
But I will not roleplay in this game.
This game isn't meant to be roleplayed--it has too many limitations. For a game to be roleplayable, it needs to be Dungeon Master-friendly. This game lacks any type of DM support entirely. If it did have a DM tool, I would be all in for roleplaying. Sadly, it doesn't, and there is no way to control how "the story" goes, there is no way to control NPC reactions and responses, there is no way to create missions and quests.
But if you're up to the challenge of trying to do it nonetheless, by all means go ahead. I encourage you to. If you do manage to somehow get a good roleplay going on, please do tell me. I may be interested then. ^^
Cheers!
