This is a stand alone ficklet, in honor of the holiday. There are spoilers for the Abyssea storyline, so be forewarned...tho if you haven't finished the storyline, you probably won't know who's point of view this story is told from anyways, and you certainly won't understand the scenario...

I miss him.

It's amazing what can happen when you're staring down at the moon and the Celestial Capital beneath you, the world so far away. I sighed softly, my chest heaving a little as the air fills my lungs and then contracts back out. Once again I started to walk along the length of the shattered crystal, the red shards spanning the darkened sky in a rainbow-like arc in order to keep my promise.

Its an awkward feeling, walking through space. Its almost like I should be floating and wondering around aimlessly, but I'm tethered down to a level world, the air and gravity and all the little bits and things perfectly in plac-

I miss him. He promised to visit, so why hasn't he come back yet?

I move a few errant strands of my platinum-gold hair away from my eyes, tucking it away carelessly behind an ear as I continue to put one foot in front of another, trudging slowly along.

I know its not him, I know its only someone that's exactly like him in every way, like the way he smiles at me, the way he fights, the way his eyes sparkle, the way that he protects me the way his voice soundsthewayhekissesmeinmyfantasiesthewayheholdsmewhenIdreamatnighttheway

A taste of soft copper starts to trickle down onto the fringes of my tongue, and it takes me a moment for me to realize that I had somehow managed to bite open my bottom lip a little and make it bleed. A quick swipe at it with the back of my right hand quickly fixes it before I realize all too late then that I had managed to stain the white fringe on my cuffs in doing so.

If we were back home, we could have been celebrating our first Starlight Celebration together...unwrapping gifts from each other and the Smilebringer...

For no reason, no reason at all, I decide to pick up the pace, running as fast as I can, as far as I can. I reach out with my right hand, the bloodstained lace hiding away in eternity as it gets mixed up with the dancing crystal fragments, swirling and twisting all about each other in a cosmic mixture of Paradise and my failures.

...Even if its not him...

Why hasn't he visited?...
