Hello Bismarck,

It's a new time, these days musicians and authors distribute a large amount of their work for free and rely on donations from true fans for support. Those same artists are learning that support comes plentifully to those that give freely of their product, it's the very reason everyone hated Metallica when they threw a fit over their music being distributed over the internet, and the same reason authors like Scott Sigler are a nation wide best seller with his first book, he gave them all away, for free, on audio even...

It's that same reason I figured I'd try something different. I've looked through the popular FFXI sites pretty thoroughly, and I can see that all the linkshell databases are pretty far out of touch with current guilds. I've done my best to research the rule systems of the (few) available linkshells I could find on the internet, and find myself incompatible for various reasons. (Time Zone, %attendance systems that keep part time players from benefiting)

For that reason, I thought I'd make myself available to the public and hope for the best that I'm someone an honest guild leader would be interested in.

The Bad: I have a full time, 8:00 Am - 5:30 PM (or much later) Monday through Friday Job, as well as teach class Mondays and Thursdays most weeks. I also have a wife whom I'm supporting through her last year of med school. My play time isn't plentiful, making it valuable to me.

The Bitter:I'm a very altruistic person, in my last linkshell I let a VNM tier III and a Byakko I personally farmed go completely to free lot. I've passed Dynamis AF to people I knew would use it more than me only to have them win the lot against me for the AF I had commented on the very next drop. I've woke up at 5:00 AM to beg to pay 10 mil for Black Belt items that ended up going to players whose MNKs weren't even 70 yet. I'm a talented soloist who considers asking for help a very...very... last resort. I've been taken advantage of from basically every direction.

The Good: I've been here since NA release, I've had 4+ jobs at 75 for 7 years now. I have experience in pretty much every event introduced up until the last 3 months. I understand the stress that a linkshell leader gets, so I do my best to do my best and cause as little drama as possible. I'm always on time for events. I know how to play my jobs, my MNK has 3 levels of ACC for WS, and my RDM has 4 levels of MACC so that I can get the max potency out of every enfeeble. I won't afk to take a **** during an event until my eyes turn yellow, and usually when I come back half the alliance is dead because they got too used to me doing everything.

Today a friend asked me to join their Dynamis linkshell, after learning their rule system I said no thanks. They then adapted the rules, and asked me to join again, I told them "I want to play with a fair and fun group of people, or not at all." and that's the truth, I just can't seem to find where I belong.

I'm seriously interested in being a part of a linkshell with a fair distribution system that won't punish me for having real life commitments. I'm more than happy with working a little harder, and will pass to those more deserving without being asked/forced. I'm EST based, and sign on around 5:00 PM and off at midnight with weekends pretty much open. I try very hard to make the group as a whole progress.

/tell Singular... please.

I don't know if my praise will garner much of anything for Sing, but I've known him since the NA release and can attest to him being a great guy and an excellent player. He dropped everything to help me farm for items I needed or to beat difficult bosses numerous times.

NoSephiroth Dynamis looks like it would suit your schedule, on Tuesdays at 8PM and Saturdays at 4PM. We also do Abyssea, but unfortunately on Mondays and Thursdays from 6PM-8PM EST. In the case of Abyssea, we're super low key and you can drop in and out as you need to. If you're not interested in Dynamis, I'd suggest looking into Melody LS. They run Abyssea, Einherjar, and Limbus, all stacked on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, although their events run rather late for EST.

Both linkshells can be accessed at www.catwho.net, along with Yamato LS which does more VNMs and Abyssea but also does random stuff like Bahamut V2, etc.

You have the same sort of schedule my husband does... he has classes on Mondays and Thursdays at 7PM. He comes home at 5PM on Mondays, and then I feed him dinner and kick him back out the door. It's very sad. (He's tried to fight for them to stop offering the damn night classes since they have such low enrollment, but he's an education prof so the school wants to make sure it has options for working parapros. Bleah.)

Very helpful info Catwho, I will look into both shells.

Just curious, what keeps people doing Dynamis these days? Mostly profit?

Profit, and in the case of a lot of our folks, a determination to acquire all 100 pieces of relic.
