Greetings one and all, my name's Alturen, and for some reason I'm called {Alt-Key} by my old compatriots in the previous server I was on. I'll make this short as I'm not sure how to do this, and feel that we need to learn the game more before we actively join anything..
My wife and I recently transferred to Bismarck from Leviathan roughly three days ago at the suggestion of a friend who moved as well.
With that in mind, we've played once before, roughly duoing our way to 30 on subjobs, and duoing together to 25. This took roughly six months, and it was quite disheartening considering Level Sync wasn't even implemented then, and we just hated the fact that people would bail constantly on parties and whatnot whenever we were actively in them. That, and I work ridiculously stupid/long hours so our partying is quite limited.
I've checked the LS list, and was just hoping to leave this out here, we're currently attempting to get our Rank5 so we can have an airship pass, yesterday alone we managed to get our Al Zahbi access, thanks to Zultec. (Awesome IRL friend.)
We're just returning to the game and hoping to make something of ourselves, I'm an Elvaan Paladin currently, and my wife's a Hume White Mage. We're always open to suggestions and want to be the best we can be, and...I'm not sure.
How do you honestly say, "I'm looking for friends." :(
We're fresh to the server, and think it's pretty neat.

Lol, Welcome to the server Alt! People here can be total @#%^s or they can be the most altruistic kind-hearted souls you will ever meet. We have both here. But overall Bismarck is a server I was randomly shoved on and have stuck with (on and off) since the NA PS2 release many years ago. As far as a LS goes, look for Naeo (he checks these boards so he might see your post before you see him). He just recently returned as well and started a shell for new/returning players aimed at meeting people and getting more lower level stuff done. I'm sure he will be glad to have more people join him! If you do meet some of our resident @#%^s (like Aluus and Balfor [I'm a moron]) just give them a wide berth. They have the combined IQ's of a potato and a cucumber. Don't let their witty comments confuse you. They are pre-programmed by gil sellers. Additionally, like I mentioned, we do have our fair share of true @#%^s but pay them no heed because they don't matter. There are more than enough people here willing to help others out who are in turn willing to learn.

I think Gam has officially become the Bis welcome commitee. Just so you know Alt..Gamion is one to be respected as he is also the Hello Kitty fan club president, the Hannah Montana fan club director, personal hair stylist to Brittney Spears oh and lets not forget the hopeful new leader in Iran. His vast amount of experience is dwarfed only by his will to be the supreme leader of the world wide message board crowd.

Thanks for the replies. Haven't seen 'em in game yet, but we play during odd hours anyway.

back when i played alot and looked like a zombie, i stayed here, but now i maybe stop by once a month.
this used to be a busy forum but not anymore.
your best bet is to just pester someone for a LS and choose a good one.
dont join just any old LS cause you can get dragged into some drama that started 3 years ago.
most people dont mind helping out the new guys in the ls, just remember to think about what all that LS did for you when you get to 75 and want to go end game.
you can observe the players as they interact with each other, and plan events.
here you have no idea whos giving you advice, or how much medication they are on.
as you xp and lvl up, shoot the crap with players and ask about thier shells.
most LS tolerate noobs alot more than the smart *** jerks who think they know everything and argue with everyone about the dumbest crap.
noobs are eager to prove thier worth and volunteer for just about anything they can, while the veteran know-it-alls try to skip out on everything they can.
you wont get invited into the top 3 HNM endgame LS, but you can get a good shell that does some small scale stuff fairly easy.
pick a job, and learn it. be the best one at the job you chose and youll always have parties and LS invites. Be a polite person too and youll never have any problems.
just dont expect everything to be done for you by your LS at the drop of a hat.

Yea, I don't think any FFXI forum for Bismarck is too active anymore. People still check them, they just don't post much stuff anymore. Your best bet, as Gameslaver said, was to find a good LS and to become a part of their personal LS forum. That is most likely where most people congregate, not on a giant board like this.
