All you guys who have "elite endgame shells" like Ninjas, Foreal, etc..on bismark or any other server that may read this... Why do your applications require you to have certin hard to atain gear? People join endgame shells to get this gear but if they cant join a shell to help you get it how are you suppose to get it? Your statements that you should join another shell to get it then apply is dumb. All that does is pass around the same garbage that cant keep a shell together longer than 3 months (not your fault admitedly) Cross server apps are even worse. There are many people that have been on Bismark since they started playing and just wondering if they would be more appealing to you than someone from another server despite gear? Can you answer that? If i bought a character and said i came from a diffrent server but had good gear, you would then take me seriously? Sad. Also, you all run 3rd party programs so dont deny it. It is in your screenshots. My timers do not show up on my game. Maybe because mine is unaltered. Anything not in the original program is 3rd party so take that crap out of your shell websites. I have had people admit to me that they hacked and explained some things they did in their shells to get an advantage. Just be honest and admit it. You buy gil you buy gil.. Dont deny it. Maybe then you will truely be deserving of some respect. Also, since when is a good player defined by gear? "We have enough well geared.. whatever"... Congratulations. Now, i respect what some of you have done. I would like to do some of the things you guys have. You have done many of the things I would like to do. Sadly I will never be able to.. I have never applied to any of your shells either btw because i know i wont get in. Nor do i really want too. Just stating a point on behalf of those who think like i do. Flame Away!!!

Your first post on this forum is a wall of txt to complaine about how a group of people you dont know choose to play a game and who they associate with? And yes I rated you down for wasting my time and anyone else who clicks on this page. If you dont like the rules of an endgame shell do exactly what you said and don't apply move along and be happy. Endgame is not for everyone I know I have more fun lvling different jobs.

There's more than just 1 type of endgame shell.

These so called "elite endgame shells" are pretty much exactly that. They're full of players who've spent months on end, in many cases years, getting all the hard to get gear so they can make the most of their jobs in the LS.

Why would any of them want to pick up a newbie endgamer who is only going to need them to do all these events over and over just for them? It's not exactly what these shells are about. These shells are about taking the toughest endgame challenges and beating them.

They aren't about getting a fresh endgame player the 'basic' endgame gear.

To be 'the best' you have to put in the time at endgame. Find an endgmae shell that's still heavily into sky and you've found a good starting point. If you can find one of those then get your application in.

I've been doing endgame for well over a year and I still don't have all the gear I want to call any of my 75's pimped out. Not enough to consider applying to a hardcore endgame LS - my PLD is fairly close, but that's a different story for another time.

Less emo and more endgame shell applications is the way forward.

p.s I think I want my 5 minutes back for typing this out rather than ignoring the bait like I should have done.

p.p.s How these players chose to play isn't any of your concern - if they use 3rd party tools to get an unfair advantage they'll get caught sooner or later and the same applies to gil buyers - they'll get caught eventually as well. Don't let it worry you.

Obviously, you've read the websites. But, have you actually chatted in-game with some of these people?

Now, with the exception of NiN, I've spoken with different members of a few of the high-end shells. I'll say this: From the info I was given, they don't "expect" you to have a Ridill, KClub, Adaberk, etc... These people do expect, however, that you have the necessary components and an understanding as to what tasks you can perform on your job/s.

By necessary components I'm talking about gear that's quite easily obtainable. Obviously, they don't want some 75 War in their shell that goes around in an N. Vest and TPs in Str rings. They want you to be able to comprehend how to properly gear and play your job. Now, if a shell has about 10 Wars completely blinged out the ***, then I'm almost 100% sure they don't *need* another one.

You "know" you won't get in? You don't "know" that until you try. Oh, and if you didn't want to get in, what the hell is your point to this post? You bash a shell's requirements just to say that their requirements are set much too high?

Anyway, to close: I'm going to state what was told to me when I was inquiring about these shells. "Obviously you're not expected to have top-of-the-line gears. The proper gear off the AH is suficient. The Ra/Ex stuff is the shell's duty."

Honestly, any end-game shell I've joined has never REQUIRED me to have this or have that. If they have, they have been very generous enough to make events for the equipment that I needed. Obviously, if you get your first job to level 75, (we'll say SAM for example), you apply for some random end-game shell, and they expect you to have Shura, Kirin's Osode, and an Optical Hat, then I totally agree that it's crap. Chances of you finding that, slim-to-about-none (it still will happen).

Oyy nailed it on the head when he said end-game is not for everyone. Coming from a veteran player who has seen his fair share, end-game can be very tedious, time consuming, and dramatic in some cases. If you aren't ready to make a commitment to make the events, sacrifice time, and in some cases gil, exp, etc., rethink it. Wish I would have.

Now I think it's pretty clear to anyone that really knew me in the time I used to play FFXI, I did my very best to avoid joining an endgame shell... for a lot of reasons, none of which are stated in the opening post.

I didn't actually take the time to read the replies to it, although I'm sure they are all entirely disapproving, seeing as the dude got rated way down.

I just dropped by to see how Alla's been really, but I figure while I'm doing so, I may as well mention that that was the dumbest fucking post I've read in a long long time. lol
