Thanks for the pre-warning. you should post this on the general forums as well so that everyone in FFXI knows about it just in case. RMT's are evil and should be eradicated. god sometimes I wish FFXI gave the ability to kill other players... Id become a full time RMT hunter

I downloaded it for kicks. It's an .exe program. It's most definitely a keylogger.

P.S.

I have a mac and regardless I play on PS2. No damage done here ;) I even tried to run the damn thing and it wouldn't work haha

Lol, I did the same thing, I went to the site on my macbook pro and got the exe downloaded. I ran my virus program and it instantly trashed the file. I then went to tripod and reported it as a keylogger and the file was removed within hours. Hopefully noone was stupid enough to follow the link and I wasn't the only person who reported him to GM's.

This character was a 75brd, and I have a feeling it was probably a hacked account. Which is a new low for rmt stealing accounts now. They'll gut a character, transfer it and then get it banned by trying to get others to download their keylogger. That's got to put a kink in getting your stolen character back. Hacked, moved and then banned for rmt messages.

I was trying to find a way to report it too but I'm either dumb or blind since I couldn't find it... though I only looked for a min or two.

Sorry I'm not computer wise(~.~!) and I just started to play ffxi, could anyone explain me what is a keylogger(more than the obvious meaning of the word), and how can I protect me from them.

Thank you (^.^)

They install themselves on your computer and monitor your keystrokes..sooo say you logged into the game...the person who made the keylogger suddenly knows your account password...or worse...what if you logged into your bank account...

To protect yourself...don't click on things you don't know what they are...more malicious type things don't need you to confirm or deny something to affect you..they do it all themselves...

Thanx for the answer (*'')/

But I don't get it, if some can do all by themselves, how can we protect us against them?.

I have another question ^^, can they affect ps2 or xbox, or are they like virus just affecting PC's?

PC's but what I meant was they do it once you've clicked on it. Normally when you d/l something it asks you to confirm yes or no and gives you a warning about clicking yes on things you don't know about...these just do it automatically and work around your systems safety settings.

I contacted the website and had it shut down right after Tahnee sent that tell :)
Granted they can just make a new one, but hey, small victories. LOL
