Changes to NM claiming in "update"Follow

#1 Aug 01 2005 at 3:06 PM Rating: Decent

I just read the update details in my POL veiwer. A couple of items caught my eye.

- Players will no longer be able to use spells and/or abilities to claim a monster right after it spawns.(a certaina mount of time must now pass)

- If a player attempts to use a spell or ability to claim a monsters before this elapsed time has passed they will be unable to use that ability again until a certain amount of time has passed (it didnt say wether the ability was "spent" or if it just makes you wait a few seconds before trying again.

- addition of blockaid command (turn of non party members ability to be able to target you with "magical assistance, /trade, and invites ( I beleive this is to prevent people from targeting each other to prevent claims on objects)

they are making it if you throw away your signal pearl your relationship with your NPC worsens ( i knew they were gonna do something like this). They are also sating that when certain requirements are met your NPC will be able to adventure for an "extended amount of time"...id be very interested in any information about what those requirements are.

Lastly they are making several HNM get slowly "stronger" (exact wording the used, dont know if its hp regen or actuall difficulty increase) after a certain amount of time has elapsed fromt he time the mob was claimed. (im not gonna list all of the HMN but most of the big ones were on it.

All i can say is wow.....this is going to change how a lot of things are done (At least i think so)

Comments & concerns?

Thanks,

Gob
(sorry for any grammar errors)

Guess those linkshells that like to hold HNMs for others to come will have issues. BS had issues with Aspi awhile back since I remember going there to see what it looked like and they took hours to kill it.

Spam Cure 4/5 on someone fighting Fafnir and see what happens. Flail isn't a very nice thing.

That whole blockaid thing would of been helpful when i was still camping for my empress hairpin. Godsmile spammed cures on me. I guess no one told her divine seal + cure III doesn't give much hate when it only curs for 50-ish mp. ^^ That's also going to ease a lot of synthers minds when they go to synth something super-expensive.

The whole claiming thing... ehh... i think i'll go see how bad it is before i pass judgement on that.

They had a relationship with us? >_> Maybe it affects the armor they choose, because right now they're really dumb in that department. I mean honestly my NPC hit level 33 and so what does he do? He equips lv 1 body RSE. GENIUS! ><

I'd check Luto after this update. There's that option to ask her if there's anything new going on, and the NPCs are always talking about the girl we rescued from Eldieme and there's obviously more to these mirrors. Possibly they've added more to the quest, and maybe that's what they're talking about.

About the anti-bot thing, I'm more concerned about pullers trying to hop on a mob pop if there's fierce competition. Depending upon this cooldown penalty there will be, it could be disastrous. Then again, such situations don't occur all that often, but you know it'd be pretty annoying.

EDIT
And I just realized this, the Dr. Seuss reference was not intended. :p
