Character transferFollow

Hey everyone,

I've come back from a pretty long hiatus, but I found out that pretty much everyone I knew from my old server has long quit and most of the people I knew from FFXIV played on this server. I started a new character, but I wonder if it's worth the fee to have my old character transferred and reactivated (if I don't transfer this character, I won't bother activating him). I have a lot more unlocked on my old character (minus the fact that I gave away a lot of the stuff that I owned at the time), but I'm worried that I'll have a harder time adjusting to the new way things are done if I jump into the middle of it instead of working my way up.

And the character I have been playing as in the meantime is Wrentin, a RDM17 San d'Orian (M1-3)

I'm not looking for one answer over another, so I welcome opinions both for and against the transfer. Thanks!!

Yeah, from what I've been reading, I definitely have to at least invest in those Abyssea expansions. I've only been gone about 2 1/2 years, but even back then I was a pretty casual player. It seems a lot has changed since the last time I really put some solid time into it (which was probably some time after TaAU came out), but I've been itching to play again and I'm willing to relearn the game if it's possible.
