Just a quick note, due to hours at work, I'm limited tue-sat for any playtime, normally 2-3 hrs from midnite to 3 am central and all day Sun & Mon, it's been rough getting any assistance, so I thought I'd try here as well. I'm currently leveling Bard and hit 57 on Monday, working on AF at the moment, got the paper knife and the lv 60 gloves, I'm going to need help with Castle O and the Crawlers Nest for the pants and body. I got a /tell that I only need gloves and legs, but isn't it best to get the whole set? No luck finding help for the NM find for the shoes, and Minstral's coat is coming up.

I'm looking for anyone who is either bard lv'd for questions and advise and anyone who would like to help out. Leave me a note here or hit me up in game sometime, still trying to get back into the flow of things after missing so much time. I have yet to see anyone I remember from Pandy as well, wondering if they had to change names, went to another server, or flat out no longer play anymore >.<

Helpful answer - Might as well get all the AF pieces - you may want to upgrade at a later date for town gear etc. Other non AF pieces of gear are good for the 60s though like Gleeman's Belt, Minstrel's Coat and Opo-opo Crown. I presume you already have a Jester's Cape (or the +1).

Realistic answer - You could turn up to parties naked with a turnip on your head. No one cares - you're a BRD.

Yeah I hit 59 the other day and while I could just lv and not worry about gear, I'd rather have the items that will not only make my job easier, but show I worked for it. I do have Jesters +1, the CHR earrings, only the NQ, and the Corsette +1. Started the opo-opo quest and have 6/10 items, just waiting until I have more time to look for assistance with the 4 rare/ex drops, the worst part, lol.

I was reading how some say the Gleeman's isn't as good as a Corsette +1 if I were to augment to the haste 3%, seen how the drops come off random mobs in 3 zones, but the information doesn't really go into good detail for me. After missing so much time, I fail to understand how augmentation works and when talking to the npc, he doesn't say much. I'll work on this one soon.

Also, took my 79 monk into the grotto, didn't get to camp long, it stinks only being able to play part time anymore due to RL work junk, but I'll get there. I managed to get the legs and hands for AF and would love to get the rest, just seems like most people are interested in endgame and Abyssea to help out with the lower level stuff anymore.

Btw, if anyone wants to join in or help make some gilz, I'm looking to cash in some BCNM 40 runs, KS30 runs, and looking to do some assaults for the first time. I had to just buy a Chiv. Chain for monk due to lack of assistance with shouts and LS asks. Where's those social mission/quest/non endgame shells anymore, anyone do them? I enjoy helping others when I can, just pressed for time and mainly have SUN & MON free anymore.

Hit me up if you see me in-game and in town, I'd be happy to help you out. You're definitely right that not as many people will help strangers on random quests anymore. Seems like most people feel they've put in theirs and aren't obligated to help anyone anymore; However, I'm like you, I enjoy helping strangers!

Regarding augments, there are a lot of great augments out there but very few of them actually come from the Fields of Valor thing where you trade an item and get a random augment on it. Those usually result in terrible augments. The good augmented armor comes from things like the Tenshodo Coffer (which gives rewards for completing Add-On missions), Abyssea golden chests, or ANNM chests. I don't know which of these your Gleeman's Belt with Haste+3 comes from, but that would be your first thing to find out if you want to pursue it.

Anyway, good luck!

A quick note about the waist item, I couldn't recall exactly which page showed me this but I did have it written down, the NPC was in Port Jeuno named Squintrox Dryeyes and the guide stated I could obtain and trade 3 items and then add haste 3% to the Corsette +1 making it better than the Gleeman's. After further reading, I see that it requires the 3 mini expansions, which came with the ultimate collection I bought, just have yet to register them yet.

I'm going to read up also on ANNM, so many new things I have over looked and missed, overloading here, lol. Anyways, yeah I'll drop a shout next time I have free time, would your LS have any open slots BTW? Haven't seen anyone with the pearl yet, the one I'm in now is decent, good players, but it's a endgame shell and they are always so busy with events and doing their own thing, not a lot of free time for outsiders.

That's not how those items work. Squintrox Dryeyes is an NPC for the add-on missions. As an alternative to using the three Goblin food items to fight the three NMs http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Gatherer_of_Light_(I) you can talk to him to get a http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Viridian_Key. You'd normally do this after having completed the mission, since the key items still "drop" from normal gobs in those zones.

When you use that key to open the Treasure Coffer in the Tenshodo, you have a small chance to get a Corsette, an even smaller chance of said Corsette having a Haste augment, and an extremely small chance of it being 3%.

Most of the non-cutscene missions in all three of the add-ons will either give you a key when you do them, or have an alternate completion to get a key from Squintrox. There are quite a number of possibly augmented items...but actually getting the one you want is completely random. You could get one first try, you could spend months trying once a day (as is the limit) and never see one.

IMO, the nicer thing with a Corsette +1 over a Gleemans is that you can wear the Corsette +1 on a number of jobs. May be possible to augment it from FoV NMs as well, but I can't recall.

Ahhh ok then, I misread the situation then, looks like it will be a Gleeman's for me, and the Corsette +1 in the MH for capped events, thanks for clearing that up ^^

I think that part of it is a time of day issue. I have noticed that people are much more likely to do quests and help out in the morning and afternoon. At about 5pm EST the server seems to shift to exp mode.

This is particularly imporant if you want to do quests like CoP battles. In the case of CoP people show up at the sites for the fights up until 'three paths' about every 15 minutes to 1 hour during the day. I say up to 'three paths' because I just finished it myself and cant confirm whether this continues to hold true at, say, they airship battle. I started just camping the sites with my duo partner waiting for other players. The longest I have seen is 1 hour, and several times I had no wait at all.

TY for the tip, I'll keep that in mind with the quests. On a side note, I'd just like to say ty to all those who took some of their own personal time and helped out on Sunday, It rocked! Was able to get the 4 mob item drops and finish opo-opo crown quest, eagerly waiting lv 65 to use it. Curious though, do many even go through the quest for the item? Seems like a godlike item for a bard with the effects of the pamamas. 50+ HP/MP and technically 14 CHR although it states the -7 still applys, still the 50 HP and 7 CHR is nice addition, unless later on the haste is more important.

I was able to hit lv 61 on Bard, going to spend some time spamming songs for string skill since it's very far behind, approx 77 skill. With me getting closer to max lv, what's a good idea of CHR to look forward to when I need to start thinking of +skill? I see the earrings and the rings with the + to wind, the necklace at 65 comes to mind with the +7 to skill.

I never bothered with it because I had a relic hat by the time my BRD was in the 50s...so I knew I'd only really use the crown for a few static group sessions before swapping to that. It's decent, but it does limit your choice of food. IMO, the biggest factor with the Opo crown is the relative certainty of obtaining it (it does take a little effort, obviously). Consider something like, say, Goliard or Relic, which both have 5 CHR, almost netting you the same CHR with no food. Turban gives you 30HP/MP with no food. If you factor in, say, a Tavnazian Taco "when it counts", then you get 4 more CHR, and 20HP/MP, plus a solid DEF boost if you're pulling, and so on. Basically, with the crown, you're locked into using Pamamas just to get the "real" stats, and there are other items that already have much of the benefit without using food at all, so those + food are better.

It'll vary because it'll depend on your target mob. Obviously, for buffing, CHR is useless, so pile on the +skill and/or song casting time/recast gear. Most song effects will cap by 75 with modest +skill gear, if any at all. Primarily it's Victory March that you continue pushing skill as much as you can for.

Offensively, I think it partly depends on what's available in the slot. If you can get as much or more +skill as you can CHR, then it'll likely be better to stick with skill. When you can get a fair bit more, IE, Errant/Osode/Marduk over Minstrel's Coat, then use the CHR. Past that, test. This is what I use, which is pretty modest, but it works well enough.
