Problem with newb?Follow

Ok, well, there is this person, that recently joined my linkshell, and is new (like, 2 days new). Now I'm not going against the newbs (I know I was one for the looonggest time ^^;)
but, this person does NOT pay attention.

He asks how to make gil and everything, which I'm fine with, I tell him to sell his drops. But the thing that gets to me is, he is constantly asking the same question, over and over again.

I have told him to buy the strategy guide numerous times, but he says, "I'm poor!" and I know that's not true, but maybe he's just lazy.

My real question is, what can I do to get him to actually, well, listen? I have had to explain how to use the Auction House about 6 times now, and he still asks me how to use it!

It's not like I'm skipping on stuff either ex. "Buy stuff from it." I actually explain the concept and whatnot.

Please, for the love of my sanity (the little that is there) tell me how I can either explain everything, so he doesn't ask again, or how I can well...get him to pay attention! ^^;

I know this is the dumbest thread ever, so please don't rate down, but if you ever see a person named, "Pointy" and feel like taking him off my hands for a little, please, feel free.

Do you know how old that player is? He may be too young for this game. If he can not grasp the concepts of buying and selling, then he is not quite ready yet.

Assuming he is a young kid....
Try to tell him again to buy the Strategy Guide and go over it with his parents.

Or ask him to ask his teachers/parents what buying and selling means.

Or ask him if he has friends who also play the game and to ask them for help.

i work with erestor, firi and lowako, and they've all had the game for months, almost a year in firi's case.. and they never shut up about it!!!

admittedly now i'm on i do talk about it a fair bit, but i try to talk about other things in my life, like my music and my websites.. but still... this game does kinda take over!!!

sound like your friend wants someone to walk him thru every single aspect of the game, show him everything he needs to do, basically scamming your personal experiance of the game so he can get thru it easier.. but thats no way to play! why do what everyone else is doing in a non-linear game like this? part of the point is to learn and do your own thing ^^

That's why, aside from letting my 8 yr old kill bees and such (when I was in Cerberus farming bee hive chips before I moved here) I won't give him his own character yet.

Hes not old enough to understand the concepts of this game cause its way different from the other final fantasy games hes played. Plus, nothing to anyone here, everyone I've encountered here on the board and on the server, so far, have been nice. But I've seen things on Cerberus of people yelling at others and swearing at them, and thats not an atmosphere I want him exposed to.

Back on subject, even though he claims hes 15 he could be younger or maybe he just doesn't "get it".

a lot of great players don't know anything of the story of the game...it's funny.
