I've failed this thing multiple times now and I'm struggling to see a different way to play it. I've tried killing the adds and healing the NPC, I always kill the healers first, but I'm dying in the middle of the second wave no matter what I do. I'm level 32 and properly geared and using protect and food.

Not sure if I was just lagged out or what, beat it the first try this morning doing the same thing I've always done and I wasn't even getting the super healing you get on the third failure since it seems to reset when you log out?

Just make sure you kill all the high DD that comes out, I usually bind one of the melee, focus the caster, kill any healers if any (sometimes you get 1) and just focus on adds until you have to kill the last girl. Then it's just a pure DPS race, just lay into her and avoid all the AoE.

Just did this quest on my 30 ARC with only NPC bought items (no greens/pinks). Basically in both of the fights I simply kited any melee that was on me in a circle around the friendly NPCs, while killing off the mobs that were attacking the NPCs (healers first obviously). The mobs on me only ever gave me the odd hit, which was healed by one of the NPCs.

Kite. It's how I've had to do certain things 30+ as far as instances and even some quest mobs (halitostroper as an example.)

This. Just keep running away and around the enemies. Then the lancers can't reach you and the archers have a harder time targeting you. Kill the healers when they spawn.

Make sure you stay close to the NPC for healing. The other thing is kill the mage as quickly as possible. Her magic can hit you hard and from far away.

always kite everything melee. kill healers first, ranged second, then worry about the melee.

if you are really struggling with kiting level a lancer a little bit and you can pick up feint to snare them.

I had a bit of trouble the first time too. What I did the second time was back away from the fight a bit at the start to make my allies take a majority of the aggro. After that I didn't heal at all just kited around in the general area of the npcs to get their heals and focus one at a time. Healer first, after that whatever I could find really. After a little while nothing was hitting me and I just made sure to attack whatever the npcs were attacking, thus I could pretty much stand there and just focus on keeping up my rotation.

Not saying this is the best way or anything, maybe I was just lucky.

That being said, kiting is something you better learn earlier than later.

I was having issues with the fight as well when I was standing in place too long so I adapted what I call flailing chicken kiting.

For the first part where Silvarre is down, I would start the wave with an AOE attack and have them chase me while I ran around in circles while picking off mages first and then the archers. This made the lancers less deadly as they couldn't do much against me.

This also let Leih AOE spam them and help me to pick them off.

For the second part, I ate vitality food so I could last longer as I knew the boss kitty was bound to have nasty attacks. I pretty much did the same thing as the first round and binded the lancers in place when I could.

I had taken blood for blood, second wind, cure, protect and stoneskin as secondary skills so I could kite them more easily. (I'm a Lalafell so I take damage easily hehe)

For this quest, as other's have stated above, you need to focus fire the healers, kite the other mobs, and I personally laid down some serious AoE while kiting and then started picking them off one by one. I don't think I ever dropped below 50% hp. This is just a very movement intensive fight. If you are kiting properly and spreading your damage around then it will be difficult to win.
