GW2 closed beta with no NDA starts tomorrow, and Tera starts its early access Saturday. Any word on what you guys are doing?

And why's the site so slow?

It's been pretty slow (randomly so) for a couple months now I think. It will gradually get worse and worse, then it will actually start timing out and coming up with directory errors, then suddenly get a bit better for a while, and repeat.

On topic:
I won't be playing either. Guild Wars has never been a big draw for me and I haven't touched Tera. Maybe I should take a look at it later on a free trial or something.

Edit:
I see this is the site forum feedback, not the general game forum. I thought it was the later, and thought you were talking to the users and not asking what Zam was doing.

I've been looking into the site speed issues. If you see a specific page or time of day that's slow, post it here and I'll look at it.

As Tirith said, it's been on and off for awhile now.

As of right now (12:30 AM PDT) load times are 1-2 seconds, which is fine. When I made my original post load times were 5-10 seconds. It's hit or miss which pages take awhile to load, but it's most of the ones I visit regularly, which are the cross site forums.

Right now it seems just fine. Last night when Raolan posted it was, as he said, 5-10 seconds to load pages on the various forums.

Firefox 12.0, Cross Site forums mainly, but it does slowdown on the game content pages as well.

Right now it seems to have slowed down considerably. 5-10 seconds for page loads. Multiple different forum pages tested.

And seems to be just fine right now.

Maybe it's just a load issue? Is there a flux of users during the afternoon/late night US-time?

Around midnight central time, we have various automated jobs running a few hours into the night.

Rale did some fixes and changes to offload how fast the forums work.

Can you tell us if it's DB pages on games, Wiki pages, forum pages, news pages, etc. so we can further refine which segments we need to whack with the Hammer of Fixification, please?

Thanks!

I'll test it out tonight if/when it happens ago. I mostly use the forums, but the few times I've got through the EQ2 database during those times it's seemed slow. It's not an overall slowness, like the data is coming slowly. It's just a slow response. Waits 5-10 seconds, basically doing nothing (at least nothing visible), then everything starts to load at the normal speed.

Not page breaking by any means, just noticeable, and makes it feel odd.

Again, what Tirith said. When I click a link it's as if it's waiting for a response, typically 5-10 seconds when it's running slow, but the pages themselves load normally.

Right now there's a 2-3 second delay before the page loads.

I'll check around midnight central, but IIRC that isn't typically a problem time. It does seem to be more prime time US.

I haven't been on the wikis or game pages because I'm not playing anything right now. I've been waiting for Tera and GW2.

I haven't noticed the slowdowns in the past couple days. Just an update.
