Seems like the World of Warcraft template backgrounds have changed. At first I couldn't put my finger on it, but then I remembered that there used to be a picture somewhere in the header and down the left and right margins. The backgrounds are now completely parchment/brown.
It's quite overwhelming on the classic background. I keep thinking chocolate fudge will spill out of my monitor. It's making me hungry.
Intentional change?

That should be enough reason to add the background picture back. Amusing as it would be to see, we wouldn't want Mazra to eat his monitor now, would we?
In all seriousness, though, I noticed this too and now the template feels kinda bland without the background image that used to be there. It won't be the end of the world if you guys don't want to put it back in, but at the least it would be nice to know why it was removed.

I don't really like the huge picture in the background, but that's just me and I navigate away from the WoW homepage after I've read the new posts and don't go back until there is a new one so it doesn't bother me all that often. I've never noticed the picture still being there with browsing the wow forums though.
