'My Forums/Favorites'Follow

Is it possible, with the new format, to add one customizable tab, or sub tab, where we can select the forums that will be one click away (whatever, 2 clicks or whatever, but one page load)?

Basically, I want to mouseover 'forums' and see a 'my favorites' option, with up to like 10 forums that I select.

There are some of us that play or follow more than one game, or frequent certain people's user journals, and it would really be convenient to be just a page load away.

(kegsay's post).

So, it seems like they want to add it, but who knows how long that might take.

Likely a while. We have several security and implementation issues to deal with, first.

Security issues on who's end? Anything we need to be worried about?

Nothing to be worried about as nothing has been implemented yet.

We had an ambitious plan to allow users to completely customize their menus, some time ago. I doubt that will ever happen. It has a lot of pretty big issues. Like what happens when we come out with a new feature? How's that get added to a 100% custom menu?

It's more likely we'll be adding things in other sections of the site that reflect on your menu instead.

Plus, the interface to allow normal users to edit a menu would need some serious work. It's acceptable for those of us who edit the menu occasional but not for a user. For the number of users who would actually customize their menus and the time required for it to be done properly, our time is better spent elsewhere.

I've been asking for this for a while. Smiley: frown

I don't want it in "Forums" though. I want it to be next to "Forums" as its own dropdown. And it should be able to include not only site forums, but also Journals, your PMs, etc. It should be up to 10 of any on-site links.

I actually have a partially-finished project to do with this. I think this is the fourth-ish thread on this ;)

A few ways you could do that.

1) Make an announcement that shows at the top of every page until the user cancels it, which would explain that there's a new feature for the menus. Alternatively mass pm.
2) Make a thread in every forum.
3) Forcibly add it to the bottom of the first menu group, and allow the users to move/remove it as they see fit.
