Not a huge issue, but mildly annoying.

Weird. In F-Fox, with scripts allowed on the page for testing purposes, when I open the drop menu, the ad disappears:

When menu not mouse-overed, ad appears:

Odd.

Odd.

That is how it is supposed to work. Unfortunately due to running remnant ads, we cannot dictate or control the z-index that flash ads are set at. Most of these ads like to set the max z-index, so they're always on top. Even on top of menus.

The solution for over 3 years now has been to hide ads when the menu is active to prevent this issue. We've tried different layouts, but the truth is, we just can't have a layout that both has the ads displayed where they need to be and not have the menu issue. We're not the only site that does this, either.

It's a stupid fix but it's the best compromise possible.

Oh. It's new to me. Alright well thanks.

Wait, so wouldn't that mean that Safari should be hiding the ads when I mouse over the menu? It's not doing that. (F-fox however, is working as intended)

Yes, Safari should be. It used to, but you are the second complaint in a week or two. I'm having the issue looked at tomorrow by one of the developers.

Just giving you an update to let you know it's being worked on. It's confirmed that this is only in Safari on Mac (which makes it a bit trickier - Safari is usually a great browser, so this is rather odd). Until it's fixed if you visit with a different OS or browser the ads will make room for the menu as they should.

I noticed when the Fable III ad got really big it covered the drop down menus but I had to simply X out of it and it was fine.

I had a similar problem just a few minutes ago: http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f95/enigmaticcam/BadAd.jpg

Firefox on a PC (Windows XP). After a few thread visits, it went away. Might have been related to the ad? Maybe Microsoft doesn't want me visiting the beastmaster forum.

The occasional ads-covering-menus issues such as this should now be fixed.
