Forum threads marked as readFollow

#1 Oct 19 2010 at 3:39 PM Rating: Good
If you click on any thread in a forum, it marks every thread as read. Example:

Before, Black mage forum in FFXI, a forum I had never been in until today, you can see every thread has a yellow icon as being a new thread:

After I clicked on the first unstickied thread:

This happens if you click the red "Go to last post" arrow, as well.

FFXI, IE8, Windows Vista, etc.

Edit changed the subject to avoid further confusion. Sorry, Lubriderm.

You just have to open the forum, you don't need to click a thread for it to happen.

For me, the first time I go into a forum all of the new threads are bold and unread. If I click on one of the threads or a "go to last post" arrow, everything becomes unbolded (i.e. "read").

ETA: I see what you mean, Psychotic, and that was my mistake for not being clear in my OP. I was just saying all of the posts have the yellow "new" icon to show I had never been there. In the second image, you can see every single thread is now unbloded.

Yeah, but they're still marked as read, and you can see that by refreshing the page even.

It's also happening in forums you have visited, and still marking every thread as read, including ones you have read some of the posts of.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, sorry.

My point is, threads that I have not read are showing up as having been read just from opening one thread on the page.

Edit: Ok, I think you're agreeing with me and just adding to what I'm saying, sorry. I was afraid I was just really not explaining myself well. Smiley: blush

I'm saying they are marked as read without even opening a thread. As soon as you open the forum, everything is marked as read. However, they are marked read, after you check the page, which is why when you first view the forum everything shows up as unread. If you then refresh it, without clicking a thread, everything will be marked as read.
