Any possibility of getting something like that?

Wow, though if we had it I bet people would abuse it trying to claim the longest distance between posts. Though still pretty cool.

Mutings/admin warnings should take care of most of that.

Seems we have someone who decided to bump their 5 year old thread. Sounds like a good time to practice admin spankings!

Implemented this a day or two ago. > 31 days I think is what I picked. Admins have the ability to remove the warning in the event it's a valid reply to a not-frequently-replied-to-thread or whatnot.

I saw it for the first time last night. Very nifty feature, as we've got a lot of new people in the XIV boards + non-premium access to the search feature leads to an inordinate number of necros.

Nicely done.

Nifty, though slightly camouflaged on the classic WoW skin. You should center it and/or add red text to have it stand out from all the other text that is also aligned to the left.

Oh, and the note appears below the necro post, but the note doesn't seem attached to the post in any way, so I imagine it could lead to some misunderstandings if someone necros and someone else replies to it before noticing the note. Maybe just add 'The post above' to the note. Or make the note appear above the necro post. Perhaps you could even attach some kind of horizontal line or something, to separate the necro post and following posts from the original thread.

Like:

Post
Post
Post
--- WARNING: NECRO ---
Necro
Post
Post

Right now it's more like this:

Post
Post
Post
Necro
WARNING: NECRO
Post
Post

Hope you get the idea.

Here, apparently.

It doesn't show up in m.zam though.

I think I un-necro'd that thread, which may be the difference (admins have a "this is not really a necro for necro's sake" (i.e. red x to remove) button).

I'll check it on mobile. There are a bunch of different display routines for different layouts (forums vs threaded comments on things, etc) and it's quite possible I missed one (or more).

Edit: I'll get with Jerek on the display note above; I suck at visual design and aesthetics and try to avoid making those decisions ;).

Here is one though it probably could use a de-necroing as the show in topic just premiered tonight.

Admins can't necropost, only un-flag a post flagged as necro. :)

Does the necro warning disappear if the necro post gets removed?

As seen here, this leads to some unfortunate misunderstandings as the poster replying to the necro instead appear as the necro poster, and subsequently gets hammered into the ground via ratings.

Perhaps make it so the necro warning doesn't go away if the necro poster gets bansmashed?

Change the warning to read "A necropost was removed from this thread." in these cases. At least, that's my personal preference. It lets people know that the thread was necroposted in, that the necropost was dealt with, and neither of the adjacent posts to the warning was the problem.

Caused by a rate.

Same thing happens when rating this post, and various other poll related nonsense.

Have you guys disabled the necrobump warnings or something?

Linky.

December reply to a thread that hasn't been active since July.

I saw it the other day, so it's still there, but since it's happening elsewhere, this also happened in usagi's journal once, which i didn't mention because i figured maybe you guys changed that for journals, and i didn't bother to check in my own to see.

Also, you should have waited until tomorrow to post that.

I suspect that on some of the forums that don't get as much traffic anyways it is probably set to a more relaxed date range. That or its just not enabled for those specific forums.

Ah, after actually testing it again, it doesn't work in journals anymore. Guess that makes sense.
