When you go to enter the contest, there's a side box with a link to the official rules. Clicking the link just takes you right back to the main contest page rather than showing you the rules.

It's just a page with "404 File Not Found" for me.

Note that only those who submit a hand drawing of their City of Heroes character are eligible for the Grand Prize.

I assume those of us who submitted screenshots can re-enter now that the rules are up? Or at least change our picture entries?

What about professionally commissioned artwork of our original characters?

Please note (with all sincerity) I'm not trying to be one of "those guys" who cries about the rules. I just want to submit (or re-submit as the case may be) the once and know I gave my best proper and legitimate submission. If I can get an answer those those questions, I'm all happy wherever the prizes end up.

You can just upload a new pic, as the submitted pic is actually linked via account when submissions are reviewed. Not sure about the commissions question.

I decided against any 3rd party artwork anyway just because that opens a potential mess with the artist feeling they're owed part of the prize their drawing won. That and they usually have their own terms for reproduction, private/public usage, etc. Wasn't worth the slight risk of issues.

Thanks.

How can we tell if our submission made it before the cut off time and is eligible?

Nevermind. Found the answer. I didn't get mine loaded in time for the first drawing. Bummer.

Double checked. I loaded it on the 7th, but a delay somewhere put the entry in on the 8th. Double bummer. Thems the breaks. Missed the entry for the first First Prize drawing. Other drawings yet to come.

I hope whomever draws the winners has some knowledge of the actual game... more than a dozen of the entries in the gallery aren't even possible to create in City of Heroes. I'm not talking the quality of the artwork just the fact that they don't come from City of Heroes/Villains at all (one is a floating eyeball... that's not even the same genre).

The rules mention a Hero or a Villain but aren't totally clear on this point. I would like to think they meant a Hero/Villain that's actually from the game. Otherwise I could enter art I did of a Night elf with a magic staff from World of Warcraft and say it's a hero... or do a sketch of my piggybank and say it's an villain named Porkus... seriously that little piggy is evil. :p

Just wondering what is permitted and what is not?

What up, CR?

In my totally and completely non-official and non-administrative opinion, I'm going to guess that any drawing of an original character that can vaguely be called a "superhero" counts as a submission regardless of its connection to City of Heroes. After all, the Powers That Be are running the contest to drive site traffic and since Zam.com doesn't actually have a dedicated CoX site, limiting it to the tiny sub-portion of Zam.com visitors who also play CoX (and want to draw/post a submission) would defeat the purpose.

I'd prefer that they all be "real" characters as well but I understand why that's not really an option here.

I'm more confused as to why they haven't announced any winners yet.

A First Prize winner will be selected at random from contestants submitting entries on the first Sunday of the contest after opening on Sunday, August 8th at 12:00 AM and after closing on Sunday, August 8th, at 11:59 PM. From the next day, Monday, August 9th until Saturday, August 14th, additional raffle winners (Daily Prize winners) will be selected one per day for those six (6) days of the contest.

Yeah it's CR... I went with "the real" because apparently my name is already taken here. ~0)):{>
Hmm yeah I'm new to ZAM but I see now they don't have a dedicated CoX section as you mention so what you're saying about anything remotely like a hero/villain being accepted makes sense (can an eyeball be heroic/villainous? :p).

I knew I should've gone with my evil Piggybank Porkus! ;)

Yeah there should some winners posted... the rules said they would put up names here

Winner Notification. When your name is drawn, notification will be posted http://www.zam.com/contests/goingrogue.html using your site user name.

and it's random so it's not like there is any time needed for deliberation but no word yet. Wait and see I guess.

Oh I see the Lounge Crooner made an appearance, good luck Jophiel! :)

I'm not really involved with this particular contest, but I put out a notice to the admin channel that whoever is running it should check out this thread. Hopefully someone who knows what is going on will get back to you shortly.

Nope. They're four days behind on drawings now from how I read it (Sun through Weds) and from the looks of it, there's been a bunch of other submissions since the supposed cut-off date. I don't feel like throwing a big fuss, especially since the other contest-that-shall-not-be-mentioned, so I'm just waiting it out.

I have requested clarification on the status of this again. My appologies that no one is paying attention to it. I'll keep kicking things until someone gets it figured out.

Ok, although Kao said he wasn't involved in this (aside from asking the people who are involved about it).

Hey Jophiel - sorry about the delay on this. We should have a list of contest winners going up soon. If you have any other concerns, please PM me.

Update: The winnner's list has been posted on the original thread: http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=22909
