Just wondering if the augments to certain weapons can be included in the equipment page of our Character info. I don't insist upon it, but it seems rather vague when I designate the Soulsaber for my Paladin weapon without being able to specify the augments I chose from the Magian Trials.

Yes, he's talking about ffxi.

Most items (and the ones that can't most likely soon will be able to) can have custom augments, with all kinds of different stats.

Is there a finite list of augments?
Currently any item that is not rare or exclusive can be augmented with the fov system, which can give basically any stats in varying amounts, as well as the items from the add-ons (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Nuevo_Coselete for example) which can have 2 of a few augments each. Also the trial of the magians allows various weapons (currently, it seems like it will be able to be used for any item later on) which has only a relatively small list of possible augments for each weapon.

There is a finite list of possible stats can can appear (which basically includes everything), but the amount of augments, as well as the +stat can vary.

Most things can go on any item, but not everything. Dmg+, delay, and Occ. atk. twice/2-3/2-4 can only go on weapons for example. The evolith augments don't work for everything, and pair a stat with an ability/mob type/etc, such as archery ws: ranged acc +x, benediction: ability delay -x, or ice enfeebling magic: magic accuracy +x.

The PET: section of augs still go on something you have in a slot, not on the pet itself, ya?
Yes.

There are a bunch of restrictions on what can go with what, and such, but i'm afraid i don't know all of the details on that. It's probably easiest to just let anything be chosen (other than obvious things like multi attacks/damage/delay on armor, killer effects for weapon skills, etc) and just let the users pick what they've got.

mkay, what's with the things in curly brackets? Just how it displays in-game?

It's how they're listed in the .dat files.

Also, I'm taking %+d to be an integer, %+d% to be a percentage.
Yes.

Everything is integers.

I'm happy to help. It would be kind of silly to let you research all of this, when i already know most of it (and knew where to look for the rest of it). Plus i have nothing better to do.

Uh...i want to say because pet magic acc and mab go together, and there's a separate one with just mab. Gimme a bit, i'll see if i can't find out for sure.
#14 Jun 10 2010 at 12:10 PM Rating: Decent
Nope, that's not it. I have absolutely no idea why mab is there twice.
#16 Jun 10 2010 at 12:18 PM Rating: Decent
I would just ignore it.

Edit: Oh, and is that the actual game text, abbreviations and all?
Yes. the {} around elements is used for the symbols (these), otherwise it's listed there exactly how it appears in game, including the quotes around some.

These 3 are part of the A Crystalline Prophecy Final reward Augments.

When that came out, SE combined them like that for those 3 body armor choices (Mirke Wardecors, Nuevo Coselete, and Royal Redingote)

Names like FIR do not occur ingame, they are only used in the data files to represent icons.
Also, augment stats are listed above the level/jobs, and in a yellowish-golden color.
Duplicates do not occur, they are simply added together.
So an augment like "INT +2 INT +3" would always show as "INT +5". Normal stats and augment stats are kept seperate though.
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/File:Augment-example2.jpg
So if the item has INT+2 with an augment of INT+3, both would show, but the augment after all the normal stats in a different color.

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/File:Trial017.png
This is Fire (FIR), Wind (WND), Lightning(LTG), Light(LIT)

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/File:Catsclaws_146.png
This shows a Pet: augment. If more then one pet augment is present, "Pet:" is used only once. Everything following a prefix tag belongs to that prefix tag, until a different tag.

Evoliths use a slightly different method to display augments. Currently only found on visible weapons and armor.
Rather then just listing the stats, each augment is on a single line.
[1] ------
[2] ------
[3] ------

Number of slots depends on how many have been etched on the weapon or armor.
Evolith augments are almost all of the {prefix}:{suffix} type, with a few exceptions (HP+x, MP+x)

At the bottom of the item is another addition to indicate the details of a slot, right-aligned.
Example: <[1]{Fire}{FilledTriangleUp}8 [2]{Lightning}{FilledTriangleUp}8 [3]{Dark}{EmptyTriangleUp}8>

Couldn't find a proper example image of the last, so I would have to make a screenshot of my body armor with 3 slots.

Excellent start, just a few issues i'm seeing.

The elements should be replaced with the appropriate icon, instead of using {FIR}, etc. Or it looks like normal gear uses "FIR:+X", so you might want to change it to that to keep it consistent.

For evolith, everything uses a combination of a condition and an effect (ie benediction: ability delay -x, archery weapon skill: ranged accuracy +X, Ice magic: Cast time -X, etc), and there is no option for that.

Occasionally attacks x times should be limited to main and sub slots.

I'll play around with it some more and see if i can find anything else, but that's all i'm seeing right away.

Other augments that i missed are magic evasion, and pet: magic acc. Sorry, my fault.

Augments aren't adding into the stat totals either.

I want a button on the toolbar where when you press it a giant airhorn comes out of my computer and honks for 5 solid minutes. Can you make it happen, Angstycoder? I think you can.

Pft.

I want a button on the toolbar where, when you press it, it gives me next week's winning lottery numbers.

Can you make it happen, Angstycoder? I think you can.
