The old EQ skin was perfect. Why did you need to change it? What the ****?!

Seriously, change isn't always a good thing, in this case, it's a very very bad thing. It's ugly, it takes longer to navigate the site, and, it's significantly less good looking...

Whose idea was this?

Because making them ugly, and slower to navigate was apparently worth making them all the same, so they're easier to adjust Smiley: frown

I thought it was to punish me for renewing for another year. Maybe I'll get used to it, but I really liked having everything on the left.

The new UI is horrible. It was obviously created by some web desginer, and not by somebody who actually plays everquest and has to use the new site. It's now much more difficult to find anything, and even when you figure out how, it's MUCH SLOWER. When I want to find something, I want to find it quickly, not deal with somebody's lame excuse for a UI.

I've been a premium member for many years, and have played Everquest since it went live in 1999. This new UI means that my auto renew for this site is turned off. It's a sad day.

Because by then we'll have a new offensive change to complain about. Smiley: schooled

Yeah, we'll somehow forget that it takes 10 times longer to get to things that it used to.

Yes, you will, because you'll learn where everything is and it will become just as easy as before. Once you are over the initial shock.

It can't possibly be just as easy (fast). It requires traversing a far greater distance with the mouse, which always take longer. Not to mention having to look at both a category, and then a forum to make sure i'm clicking the right thing, instead of just a forum.

This is making me nuts.

I'm at the point with my vision that when I navigated the site (prior to this abortion of a UI) I was relying on stuff to be where it belonged as I was hitting the right spot as oppsed to actualy reading the link most of the time.

I can has classic EQ skin back nao?

How can we revert to the old ui? This new one is a travesty and needs to be removed.

Can we expand the forums so that there isn't this massive blank space on both sides. I can deal with minor time annoyances, but that's pretty distracting.

This is BS. No posts asking us if we want a change, no poll for a change, no posts informing us there will be a change. Nothing. It wasn't broken so why fix it. Who is your competition? No one.

The old skin was old. Yes. We liked it. We knew it well and it served the function we wanted. Ease of navigation and familiar. Now I spend a lot more time in frustration trying to figure out a new path. I'm not here to learn a new freaking path. I'm here to look up information as quickly as possible and to gtfo.

At least give us the option to have it the way we want... We are the ones paying you for it. Remember us? The customers?

While I'm not a huge fan of the new layouts, I can't help but think you sound like a whiny little *****.

I don't recall Google or Yahoo putting up a poll or asking permission to change their site layouts. Most websites don't do that, and I'm not sure why Allakhazoo would be any different.

Yes, I'll complain about the changes, and I've given suggestions to things that maybe they could change for some of the premium members (who actually do pay for the site), but this vitriol seems a little over the top.

I'd be interested to see how much money the premuim memberships actually contribute to this site. If I had to guess, I'd say it was almost negligible.

As to the layout, I think the FFXIV skin has been using it for a while now (at least i havent noticed any changes recently) and I think it's slick.

It's been a few years so it's more than possible it's changed, but the last I heard premium memberships substantially outpaced any other form of revenue. There was a quote from Allakhazam at one point saying that the EQ1 premium members + ad revenue was higher than the WoW premium members + ad revenue, and for that to be true premium memberships have to have constituted the vast majority of the money coming in to alla's. (EQ1 had a higher premium subscriber rate than WoW because of all the competition with other WoW sites at the time, but the WoW site has to have massively outpaced the EQ1 site in terms of ad revenue and pageviews.)

What's premium, 3 bucks a month? even if there are 1000 paying premium users thats only 3k a month. And i think 1000 premium accts is a bit of a stretch.

I could be wrong though, I dont go to most of the sections on this site to see the entire premium population, and I'm also sure there are many prem accts that dont even post.

ETA: heh, i was looking around and saw the alla wiki, which said at its peak had 45000 premium accts. So yeah, if thats true, that is a lot of money and I stand corrected :P
