Recipe tooltip looks somewhat broken. It doesn't include recource icons, but should. Perhaps, because relative url for image generated?

Use that

That should be fixed, now. We threw the site up really fast, so we missed a few things like that.

I just made this suggestion in the IRC, but I'll post it here, too. Can we have some more powerful options for the tooltips, such as auto-coloring the text for the rarity of items, supplying the name, showing item icons, etc? Curse's tooltip code does this, and Wowhead's tooltip code is very powerful as well, with all sorts of options.

These features are sort of needed to make rift.zam.com used over Curse's competitor, which seems friendlier to implement on fansites and such.

Hi Calzur,

If you could post a link here or send me a PM so I could take a look, I can likely help you get them working. Or at least give you an answer for sure if they will not work or not.

Greetings

Awesome job with the itemstats

I got it working on SMF and on Dokuwiki

When you check the tooltip of items, the ingredient list is bit sorted out. I think dokuwiki is causing this "problem". In SMF forums it works as intended

Tooltips for Runes in Rift do not show the item stats. Makes them kinda silly...

Lookup Glowing vengeful rune for an example.

Any chance these could get fixed?

I am using Rift tooltips on phpBB 3.0.8. I've placed the script link just before
in overall_footer.html. Though it doesn't appear correctly:

1) The link color doesn't correspond to the item color. All links are white.
2) No icon on mouseover, and no icon next to the link before you hover over it. If the latter isn't implemented yet, I would hope this feature is added soon. It is really nice to have the icon appear next to the link, before you hover over it.)

Example:

Howdy, thanks for the option.

I've added this to my SMF 2.0RC install. The code works above
in /Themes/theme/index.template.php for anybody who cares :)

I'm wondering if you have any ideas, or if somebody is also experiencing this:

Rift tooltips are faded, where other game tooltips are not, as seen here.

However, in a boring old plain html file, they are all fine.

This persists across both default themes and custom.

Regardless, thanks :)

I am having the same issue with my SMF 2.0RC install. The text inside the tooltip is all greyed out. Here's a screenshot. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I got it working on my phpbb, but it is lacking some features :) It will just appear as plain link with no icon and no rarity color. Unless I have missed something, feel free to show me. So:

1) Customizing the tooltip. At http://rift.yg.com/tooltips they have the option to customize the links, which is very handy. Icon sizes and more. You can add a script like this (under the script link in overall_footer.html):

This will make it the default setting that the link appears with a small icon. Will this be possible at ZAM?

2) And even more importantly: The link appear with the rarity color.

This is the best rift database hands down, but the lack of features on the tooltip side is still making me keep the other alternative(s).

Icons should be appearing on mouseover now. We are currently not coloring the links on others' sites, but we want to add that as an option.

I'm setting up a wiki for our guildies to exchange specs, items, skill rotations, etc. A lot of my users (and myself) don't want to look up totally random strings of numbers just to link to a file.

Here's the required url we have to generate for a ZAM link to mouseover (the rest of the anchor tag is derivative and easy.)

  http://rift.zam.com/en/item/B59FDA820601010101/Sacred-Heirloom-of-Eth

I can get the editors to do something like this:

{{ItemLink|Sacred Heirloom of Eth}}
    - MediaWiki template, basic substitution

Sacred Heirloom of Eth

    - MediaWiki tag extension, php

(which some pre-parser could convert to)

  http://rift.zam.com/item/Sacred-Heirloom-of-Eth

Why doesn't the provided js API attempt to do the conversion of Name -> ID -> Item?

You can have it instead link to http://rift.zam.com/wiki/Rift_Item:Sacred_Heirloom_of_Eth to get a functional tooltip which will forward you to a database page for the item, without needing the ID.

You, sir, are my hero!

I'll try this out with a demo template soon.

But why isn't this mentioned in the Tooltips writeup?

This is the basic template we're using until I make a custom extension -

Article name: Template:ItemLinkBeta
Article contents:
[http://rift.zam.com/wiki/Rift_Item:{{{1}}} {{{1}}}]

Article usage:
{{ItemLinkBeta|Sacred_Heirloom_of_Eth}}

The MediaWiki Extension will function like this:

Article usage:

sacred heirloom of eth

Resulting html:
sacred heirloom of eth

(The user's text will be left as-is, just a find/replace of the spaces with _)

Thanks!

@JerekDain

I'm curious what magic this does with the abilities.... putting the link below into a browser sends me to a disambiguation page.

http://rift.zam.com/wiki/Rift_Ability:Backstab

But works with the tooltips.

Am I in danger of this breaking in the future?

That's because there are several different ranks/versions of Backstab, so it doesn't know which to forward you to. The Wiki link is still valid, there are just a lot of "Backstab"s available in the database.

Confirmed on vBulletin 4 Suite version 4.1.2

1. Login to Admin Control Panel (ACP)
2. Expand Styles & Templates
3. Click Style Manager
4. Select from style edit "All Style Options"
5. Under "Common Templates" find "Footer"
6. In Footer Scroll to the very end of the code
7. Paste in the ZAM Script at the very bottom.
8. Save.

Example Clicky

Hi,

Not sure if anyone can assist here, or whether I'm on the complete wrong track or not, but I'm trying to simplify the commands needed to display the tooltip in phpBB3. I remember doing this kind of setup from Curse back for Aion & Warhammer, but can't seem to figure out what I'm missing, or where I'm going wrong.

(please note where I have 'rounded brackets ()' they should be the square ones)

Basically I've added the Javascript link to the bottom of the overall_footer.html on my forums:

Now that works fine if I add in the full link like this:

(url=http://rift.zam.com/en/item/E88CECB40601010101/Suncrusher]Suncrusher(/url)

So to confirm, the above works correctly.
However, my users don't really want to add in the manual URL as above, because when creating a URL in phpBB3 (when you highlight what you want linked, and then click the URL button), it puts the code down as:

(url)http://rift.zam.com/en/item/E88CECB40601010101/Suncrusher(/url)

Now that's not what anyone wants.

So I tried to use the phpBB codes area to create my own entries, eg:

[Rift_Item]{TEXT}[/Rift_Item]
{TEXT}

[Rift_Recipe]{TEXT}[/Rift_Recipe]
{TEXT}

[Rift_Ability]{TEXT}[/Rift_Ability]
{TEXT}

[Rift_Collection]{TEXT}[/Rift_Collection]
{TEXT}

Now that works fine... but when using the ID's of the item/recipe/etc, such as:

[rift_item]E88CECB40601010101[/rift_item]
[rift_recipe]1952914115[/rift_recipe]
[rift_ability]256144441[/rift_ability]
[rift_collection]806953531[/rift_collection]

It comes up as:

E88CECB40601010101
1952914115
256144441
806953531

(with those being links, AND showing the tooltips)

So, my question is, is there a way to re-write the name of the item somehow to replace the ID?
From memory, when using the old Curse one, if you entered the ID in between those BB-codes, the Javascript file would somehow re-write the numbers to text, OR, I think it would also do an image.

Am I miles off track here and just over-complicating this? or is there a way to do what I want?

Thankyou.

.. Thalantyr

Not currently, but we'd like to add something like that. In the meantime though you can link to wiki pages to get appropriate tooltips:

Are tooltips disabled for eq2? I can't get them to work in a test page, even the example you show in the wiki is broken. I've tried from multiple computers/browsers just to make sure.

Here's my link: http://timelesseq2.com/test.html
Here's your wiki with the broken link: http://eq2.zam.com/enhancements.html

EDIT: I was able to get it to work, i didn't have to change anything. Seems like the zam servers are under quite a bit of load lately.

Been looking at this all day, and it is doing my head in to be honest, if anyone can help me, that would be real nice.

First off all, I am using IP.Board 3.1.2, and I've implemented the script just as supposed, and I can make the tooltips appear as advertised. My problem arises when I want to create a bbcode tag that people in my Rift guild can use on our forums to easily show off their new bounty, without them manually have to copy half the URL, then format their links to indicate if it's rare, epic, a recipe or an ability and so forth.

I have searched Google thin in hopes to find a guide or an editorial that I could learn off from, but alas, there is nothing to be found.

Hi guys... to me it seems like the RAW HTML script is broken for Rift. Check out this page on my guild's WordPress site.

http://rift.tlp-guild.com/kings-breach-t1/

When I added in the WARHAMMER item, it works, so I know the script is installed properly and its linked properly on my side. This is the code I am using to link the item, that should work:

Ring of the Void

I tried to link it to a Wiki page, but when you search the Wiki, it just redirects you to the same page I've linked before.

Help!

I'm trying to add this mouseover tooltip script and can't get it to work. I'm using the instructions for Joomla 1.5 very carefully. Nothing happens when I mouseover the link.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to add another line of code to one of my template files also in order for the script to work?

Please help

thanks for making this script by the way ZAM :)

Hi Guys!

I wasn't entirely sure where to post this but this seems the most appropriate.

My forum has Guild for WoW, Dragon Nest & Vindictus. All 3 games have DB's so i would like to use tooltips from all 3.

The tooltips seem to be conflicting, its possible to replicate the issue by writing a simple HTML page:

Tooltips Test

Felstalker Bracers
Elf Queen's Corps Axe
Sword of Life

Whatever javascript script is in the middle of all 3 is the one that works, the other 2 do not. I have tested this with Chrome, Firefox and IE9

Any help is much appreciated :)

Is there a way to route the display from the script to a named div in the page? For example if I hover over any zam item, the item information would be displayed in a fixed position in the page and not a tooltip relative to the position of the mouse.

I would like to have all tooltips show the relevant icons too.

For Torhead links you would add the following above the code:

Is there a way to do this for Rift?

Is there a way to route the display from the script to a named div in the page? For example if I hover over any zam item, the item information would be displayed in a fixed position in the page and not a tooltip relative to the position of the mouse.

Yes, though it isn't something we can ensure will continue to work when tooltip changes are made, and it's a little technical. If you look at what elements are added to the page (via Firebug for Firefox, or Chrome's built-in page inspection tool) you can see what elements are added when the tooltip appears. Depending on which game tooltips you want to change you may be looking for different elements. If you style these divs accordingly you can use absolute or fixed positioning to move them anywhere on the page (this would likely required the CSS "!important" flag to override their styles). Of course, this doesn't actually put the element and its contents within a certain area, it just changes their displayed positioning, so depending on what you're trying to accomplish this might not be exactly what you need.

I would like to have all tooltips show the relevant icons too.

For Torhead links you would add the following above the code:

Is there a way to do this for Rift?

This isn't currently supported on Rift, but we'd like to add more tooltip features in the future, and if/when we do this one is likely to be the first. :)

A major tooltip update has just been released! Tooltips will now load more quickly, attach to the mouse more smoothly, attach to icons where appropriate, and should react better when near the edge of the screen and need to have their position adjusted. There are also [url=/enhancements.html]several new options[/url] for users with our tooltips on their sites. You can now enable options to add coloring to links, add icons, or even rename links to what they're linking to. You can also show tooltips for things which don't link directly to a database page by adding data attributes such as data-rift="item=12345" to the link, and you can even use names instead of the ID if you don't want to find the ID!

This was a complete rewrite of our tooltip code, so please let me know if you encounter any issues. These changes will also make it easier to add new features in the future.

That page seems to first load normally without the links, then the tooltips script looks for links to get data on, and then something on your site is adding in those links after our script is already done checking the page for links. If you can modify the JavaScript on your site making it call zamTooltip.preload() after the links are added will make the script retrieve data for those links and modify them appropriately.

It's been considered, but there are some problems with that. The main issue is that many items have many drop sources, which cannot be reasonably shown in a tooltip. Another is that it would take a slight amount more time to load tooltips if it also has to look up information on related NPCs, and with many links on a single page that time can really add up. It's something we are still considering though, since it's been asked for before.

I identified and fixed a problem where name lookups sometimes didn't work because of the case differing. It looks like there are still a few items not loading there though. Two seem to not be in our data, but the Nightmare Soulderguards clearly are but still aren't loading. I'll see what I can do about fixing that.

sounds good, yeah i couldnt figure out why some things like the high priest weapon isnt load, and what do you mean about adding this? zamTooltip.preload() yeah i have it calling it from my point system, links work fine but it seems that its not coloring them quick enough, how can i speed it up

also check out Captain's Prize on the page isnt working as well

the high priests illumination in fact is in your database just not on the wiki one

http://rift.zam.com/en/item/E282A36301010101/High-Priest%E2%80%99s-Illumination

ok so the issue is awkward, its calling the links from an XML file, and sometimes it works, other times it doesnt, how can i make it wait about 30 seconds before it runs the script

We're having a problem on the Swtor side with the tooltips. They are only showing the links and not the icons. Check out:

http://www.endgameguides.com/Swtor/Operations/ExplosiveConflict-Hard/127?strategyID=130&view=loot

Its like that for any of our links pointing to the Swtor DB. The Rift side is fine.

Also is there a predefinied limit of 50 icons only per page? We ran into a case where we had more than 50 on a page and the icons would only show up for the first 50.
