You have no arrows because you have to be a scholar (or better) to rate posts.

Also, I like the buttons... now I actually remember to rate posts. Before, I'd select a rating, get to the bottom and press the back button.

I'm having no problems with the text (using Firefox).

I've noticed the arrows sometimes not working when I rate, but if I refresh the page (or leave and return to the page), it shows that it did indeed take the rate like it should.

As for how much a rate is now. I'm guessing that was intentional. I'm guessing, when you rate now, it adjusts up or down a set number. The post will adjust to Excellent, Good, Decent, etc. based on how many rates it gets, rather than just getting one excellent. This means a post requires more than just one person to consider it good or bad before ratings really make a difference, keeping one person from doing too much damage to a post, or another person all together.

firefox treats alla much much worse, it screws up the frames for the posts and makes it all one box with the text starting directly underneath the link to this post link.

Wha?

Since I both use firefox and cannot exactly figure out what you are trying to say, can you provide a screencap?

See, for me, I've heard a lot of stuff about how IE has all these security holes and crashes all the time and whatnot, and how firefoz is so much better, but most of the time when people are questioned they cannot tell me exactly why, and even when you get someone that seems to know what they are talking about, some other dude will come along and contradict. It's not a good reason to switch just because people have anti microsoft urges, but rather to ask yourself if you're happy with the experience.

I use firefox for two reasons

-tabbed browsing

I think the latest IE version has this anyway, so it's not really an advantage anymore, but it is a spectacular feature to be able to open 4-5 tabs from ffxiclopedia or something and use another window to organize other pages.

-extensions

I have the freakin vanadiel clock on my computer (among other things like adblock and a really cool skillchain calculator). It lets me add a feeling of customization to the internet that I never could do with IE, or at least that I never figured out how to do.

I am sure that Opera is a fine browser, but since I've never used it except for on my Wii, I really can't talk about it.

It amazes me that people still use that pile o' junk.

Guilty as charged, I'm still an IE user. I used Firefox for a short time but ended up switching back because a) my wife liked IE better, and b) I do 95% of my internet browsing from work so I really don't care either way.

I use firefox with a plugin (now called add-ons) called NoScript. When they switched stuff around on the site pages were showing up wrong and it had the text out of whack as well. I found that NoScript seemed to be blocking parts of it from other web sites. Not sure why it would do that but when I allowed the new sites it straightened back up. I don't know if there could be something in IE preventing parts from loading right because of concerns about the page. I haven't had much experience with IE7. I don't like it much but I have used it enough to see it block other sites or parts of sites that it had concerns about.

No clue if that is in any way related to your problem but just an idea.

I kinda like them. It makes rating people easier, and you can do it once you've read a post. You don't have to read everything then go back and rate for fear of loosing your place in a thread.

More tidy in my opinion.

The new rating thing, the green and red arrow... Half the time it doesn't even register when I click them. I think I've been able to rate 2 posts since they put that in.

I'm not liking it as much because I'm rating people a lot more now. It just made the process so easy to do, and I'm not a huge fan of rating to begin with.

Of course that may just be the purpose of making it easier: to get more people to do it.

See.. like just today I rated down a dude for who the dude was rather than the content of the post, and that makes me feel pretty not cool, pretty not cool indeed. I suppose I will have to learn to adjust to the system to where even clicking an arrow is beyond the scope of my laziness.
