2 small problems.Follow

#1 Jun 18 2007 at 12:29 AM Rating: Decent
I'm running on Firefox,btw.

The first problem is when I try reply, the box seems to be below and one of the horizontal banners is in a verticle spot.

The other is one of the ads seems to have something going out of it a bit and it's nothing major but it blocks one of the forum links.

The first one has happened multiple times and the second only happened twice so far that I've seen.

Edit: the first problem seems to be random just had it happen to me again when Viewing the OOT.

This has been happening intermittently for ages now. If it happens again, can you right click on the ad and select "properties", and get a screenshot of that box so we can track down the company that's serving the ad?

Thanks for pointing this out. I was hoping we had this one licked, but apparently not... :(

I have been having the first problem on my home computer for about a week now. It doesn't seem to matter what ad is being displayed. I think it may have something to do with the size of my screen? I get the problem at my work computer when I have an extra sidebar with my favorites on the screen, but it disappears if I get rid of the sidebar. I never had a problem with having a favorites sidebar up the previous years I have been visiting the site so I assume something changed. I use Internet Explorer at both locations and mainly visit the FFXI forums.

I was about to ask if someone could fix the issue, but since this thread is already here I'll just add to it.

Here are a few of the ads that I have been on the sites with the improper formatting. I don't think the problem involves a specific company. I'm not so good at the screenshotting thing.. if you really, really need that I'll try harder.

I'm also having this problem. It actually took me the longest time to figure out that it wasn't that the pages weren't loading, but that they were loading out of sight. I've been having this problem for about the same period of time, regardless of the banners on screen. I also use firefox.

These two comments were hugely helpful. It looks like when the screen isn't wide enough it's bumping the banner down since there isn't enough room for it. The ffxi site is the only one that I noticed that is doing it, so it shouldn't be too hard to fix.

A bit out of topic, but maybe the Firefox users didn't know.

Install the AdBlock Plus and NoScript extensions for Firefox and you won't have to worry about banners anymore.

Or sign up for premium and get rid of the ads in addition to great site features on all our sites.

Lolz, right. The only reason I'm premium is because I lost a bet.

Wait, I said that out loud, didn't I?
