As a first step towards standardizing stuff more, forums and journals are now the same code. Post here if any problems suddenly crop up on either.

Example: "I can't post on my journal!" "I can't see forums!" etc

Clicking on "Journals..." on the FFXI skin causes it to go to a list of all the Forums.

Not a list of Journals as before.

Ah, good catch.

Since all that link did ever anyway was link to your personal journal, I'll remove that inbetween step and have it link directly to yours on the left sidebar.

Adding that to each template now.

OK, once the servers recache you'll see that it now says "Your Journal", which will lead directly to yours instead of to a page that links to yours, like it used to.

And yes, recent visitors are busted in journals, I'll work on that.

Looks like it's busted on the forums, too.

Yar noticed that as well, unless it's shorter than 15 minutes that names remain in there now? (I thought it used to be 15 minutes... maybe it was 5... or maybe I need more coffee).

I should also say that following the "Your Journal..." link on the FFXI skin show my meager little journal has had 409 visitors. Somehow I find that difficult to believe. o_O;;

Oh please don't fix it. Right now I have 408 visitors in my journal. It makes me feel popular. Smiley: grin

Actually wayyyyy back in the day there was a page listing all journals on the site that were set to public and categorized. But that went away sometime for some reason. I guess too many journals?

Yeah, once we had more than a few hundred thousand users, and more than ten thousand premiums, it became way way too large.

I keep spamming Magi's jernal, can you fix this?
#15 May 24 2007 at 7:28 PM Rating: Good
While you're doing this I figure I'd ask a question. When I click on a link to a post in my post history for a forum board it takes me to that thread. However, when I click a post that was in a journal it takes me to that post on a page of its own. It still does this after whatever changes were made.

Is there a reason for that?

You still have to enter the password twice to read threads in password protected journals.

Yeah, I know. I'm working towards fixing crap like that, but first I had to merge the code so I didn't have to mess with two codebases at once =P

Actually, it does that for all the WoW Class boards too, now that someone mentions it.

OK, testing time!

Journal passwords have been totally removed.

All journals now have a friends permission list instead, so you can control exactly who sees it.

This is located at jperms.html on whichever skin you use.

It might take a bit for them to show up on the non-www skin as I copy it over and it recaches.

Please test this out and let me know if it works for you!

(also, I fixed a longstanding bug with the Private journal setting not working correctly while I was at it)

If your journal is protected, where/how do you give posters permission?

Also, from your user.html page you can get at it, in the journal settings area.
