This whole time I thought he was allowed to say these things because he posted exclusively in The Asylum where off color (no pun intended) where to be made.

AFAIK, he'd always borderline in his post, even for the Asylum. So, he'd get right there to getting admins edgy with the bann finger (mines included) but just not step far enough. Exclusively posting in the asylum is the only reason why his bar was a little higher than other forums.
It pains me that I wasn't the privileged one to mute him silly.
Here's my take on it. He may have been annoying, but as long as he wasn't really crossing the line he was posting, and his posts usually prompted others in there to post, thus driving the forum. That and I try not to be too ban happy based just on my personal issues with a given poster.
