I see the WoW site gets more new toys, and we still don't have sig banners.
As I understand, Pikko and Imperial Ninja have already done all the work coming up with the graphic files. What's the hold up?
I want to look special too!

So you have almost zilch competition for the FFXI forums, but you have to compete against the WOW website forums? And they're the higher priority

You need to compare the overall visitors for the entire section of the site dedicated to that game.
Comparing the entire forum sections:
Final Fantasy XI Forums.
World of Warcraft Forums.
Also notice how the FFXI section has way more forums? Unless my math is wrong, this means that one unique visitor could create +1 for each forum he visits, which would grant the FFXI section more overall visitors since there are more forums to visit.

Of course, the reason the WoW visitors is so low is primarily because WoW has official forums while FFXI does not.
Regardless, I do think that FFXI players should get some sig banners for three reasons.
1. There are more of them than WoW players and WoW players are now getting even more new toys when FFXIers still have no sigs.
2. The art and such is already done.
3. Premium members who are paying for an account would like to have similar benefits to premium members paying the same fees but playing another game.

Not saying they shouldn't get the sigs, not at all. Just trying to show them why there are more recent visitors on the FFXI boards.
And if you click those two links I provided you'll see that the two visitor lists for both sections are almost identical. Both sections have around 1600 recent visitors. In fact, those numbers seem oddly identical. Is there a broken code in there?

Even though, i am not premium, never have been or possibly never will be.
I think it is quite unfair that WoW get sigs and FFXI haven't, same price, same respect i guess!

That may be one reason why right there, AFAIK, the wow premium sub rate is higher. Last I heard they were being worked on, I have nothing more than that however.

*cough* Maybe FFXI would have more subscribers if we had sigs. Since this is where a lot of people post for lack of official forums, I would think quite a few would make the plunge if they had this specific feature available.

Nope. I'm actually against the idea of sig banners. But even if I wasn't, I wouldn't be motivated to spend money for a collection of pixels at the bottom of my posts.
As to the reason why I'm against the banners. I'm here for what people are writing, a sig banner would would only clutter up the screen. The main reason I avoid killingifrit is the obnoxious banners everyone and thier grandmother have over there. A one sentence post does not need to take up my entire screen.

You don't get to use your own image, the forums automatically generate one that looks similar to everyone else's and is a fixed size. Its total height is less than that of your current sig. Not only that, you can hide them along with avatars if you want.

I understand exactly how it would work. I remember what the experiment banners looked like from a few months ago. I've seen the WoW banners. It still doesn't change the fact that it's still a waste of space. Just because it won't be as annoying as it is on other sites doesn't mean it's a good idea.

To be honest, the WoWSigs are nice and all, but even though I am a premium member and could get one, I don't. Blizzard launched The Armory a while back which is more up to date as it's updated daily without player interaction.
I also prefer a customized signature with the links to various guides, my characer profiles and something silly, like the current quote I have there.
WoWSig is nice, but if people want to check my character's stats they can just click the green or purple (orchid) links in my sig and voila.

I've had a premium subscription to this site off an on depending on wether or
not I feel I am getting the most out of it or not.
I would definitly perma-subscribe if you guys gave us FFXI sigs.
It's another cool feature that would set you guys apart from all the other
forums out there.

I would be content with being allowed to use a 100 x 200 img in our sig. (or whatever the demensions are)
