Because awful is below default: sub-default. Just a guess.

But excellent is excellent, good is good, decent is decent, and default is default... the pattern would suggest that awful is awful.

You CAN have posts rated "Awful" I think. It's once a post drops below 1.50 karma that it hits "Sub-default", and you can't see it if you have filters turned on. And honestly, if a post is that bad to get rated down to "Awful", then more than likely it is going to be put at "Sub-default" rather quickly.

I know that. What I'm saying is, let's say everyone rated my post "Excellent." It would say "Matjlav, ***, 1491 posts, Excellent." But if you rate me "Awful" I become "Matjlav, ***, 1491 posts, Sub-Default." Why doesn't it just say "Awful"?

The title of your overall score on a post and the title of the rating you apply to someone differ on that basis. They are just representations of a score.

Jesus you people are thick. Matjlav wants to know, when you hit the scroll box, the rating names are the same as the rate, until you get to Awful.

If you rate a post excellent (and enough people do it) it shows EXCELLENT. If you rate a post Awful (and, again, enough people do it) it shows up as Sub-Default.

He's only talking about the face value. Not the actual rating of the posts.

Yeah, that.

Do we just not want to hurt people's feelings too much by calling their posts "Awful"?

Heh, I actually don't know why. It's been that way since before I started working here, I think, as part of Illia's initial comment system.

It's a valid point, and guess that is up to Illia to change unless Dana gets bored and does it.

Then let me be the first to recommend that you change the face value from "Sub-Default" to "Godraiden".

But then we'd have to change the other ones to posters too. It'd be interesting to see who came out... and if poster values would be applied only to their forum type e.g Joph would be Excellent in the Asylum, and Jordster Excellent in the WoW forums. Might be an interesting April Fool's next year, hint hint.
