Edit: If you are requesting a sticky for the FFXI main forum, Don't.

Since there seem to be alot of Sticky requests these days, it was pointed out that a sticky guide might be in order. So here is such a guide.

So you want a sticky for your corner of the forum. What now?

1. First, check your forum and see how many existing sticky threads you have. If it is more than 2 existing stickies, your chances of getting a sticky are signifigantly decreased.

2. If there are three stickies already, and you just have to have An_uber_thread_04 stickied, compile some of them, or add your thread to the existign ones. To compile two stickies, take the relevent sticky info from two stickied threads, put it together in a new post, and include the links to the origional threads, and credit to the origional posters. Then post the link here for review and stickying and de-stickying of the origionals. Compilation threads will almost always be stickied, no questions asked. be sure to let us know it is a compilation though.

3. If the sticky is for one of the main forums (EQ, WOW, EQ2, FFXI, etc.) the standards are generally more stringant.

O.k., I've jumped through your hoops now and done all that sillyness, and my sticky is submitted here as a sticky request. What happens now?

4. First, We take a look at the thread. Is it well written and formatted? Or if not well formatted does it contain enough information to make stickying it worthwhile? How many people have rated it positive? Negative?

5. Next, we look at who submitted it. Self submitted sticky requests are usually not stickied. it's kind of a nomination system. There are some exceptions, but they are rare.

6. Finally, we look at the forum. are there existing stickies? If not, then the sticky is pretty much automatic. the more stickies there are, the more scrutiny the thread gets before sticky.

Any questions? post them here. New sticky requests should be posted in a new thread, or they will tend to get lost.

Faq update 1.) There is no limit on how many stickies a particular person can have. If someone is really good at writing stickies and no one else wants the job, it is not unusual to see more than one sticky by a person. Sticky quality > posting name

Kao, I have a suggestion: Couldn't you guys ask each board to compile all its best threads, including any current stickies, into one master sticky? Then you'd only have to deal with one or two stickies per forum, and new sticky-worthy posts could just be added to the master list by the board members? It'd clear up some of the boards and free you guys up from having to deal with sticky requests. Plus, I think it'd be helpful to the site visitors to have all the best info from each board available in one big post for ease in finding it.

So... if one person only submitted a sticky request and others didn't for a certain thread, it will not be stickied?

Hrmm.... do you think we should author a known issues sticky? I know people tend to ask questions without reading them, but perhaps it could help foster communication, and avoid some repeats.

hmm, that could work, let me think about it.

There is a well structured thread in the Quetzalcoatl server forum which lists active Linkshells in categories. Can we get a sticky please?

This should be a sticky: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fjob=2&mid=111299633897479576&num=40

It's a new RDM 101 that's gotten great response thus far and is an unbiased account of expectations and the proper way to play RDM to be acceptable. I'm sure other RDMs will support this nomination.

This thread on Lakshmi forums is an amazing idea, and it's getting great feedback. It'll be the fourth sticky, but it will be well worth it!

It's a good thread, but the no 4th sticky rule stands. If you like, combine some of the other stickies into one large sticky that can replace 2 or more of the existing stickies, then I will sticky that one.

Could you please unsticky the World Pass thread? If someone needs one they can just as easily post it, as world passes expire >.> That way we can have the Crafter Directory right there, which will last a long time. Also, Fenrir server does have 4 stickies ^^ Thank you very much Kao :-)

A directory of the LS webpages for Sylph server. We only have one sticky so far for our server, and being able to get at the big name LSs websites is really handy~

EDIT~FU: Could you please sticky it? Would be handy if I actually asked in this post >.>

Old LS list that needs to be unsticky, as per the OP no longer wishes to update it. You wil see on page two Mylandre no longer wished to update:

Mylandre wrote:
Guys, I'm so sorry about the delay in updating the LS list.Due to unforseen circumstances, I'm not able to upkeep the list any longer. Since quitting FF, my rl has caught up with me and I'm not on my pc very often now. Even if I am, I will not be browsing the net. I will try to talk to the Alla admins about having another person resume updating the list.

Again, I'm very sorry that I will not be able to contribute to this game anymore. I would like to thank everyone for the support that they've given me when I was playing. Thank you, Fairy for not making my FFXI experience a bland one but a mixture of sweet and sour :)

For the last time,
Myl :)

Also a bit down from that dawgdchi takes up the slack and Mylandre says ok.

dawgdchi made a new list and it is here: New list that please needs to be sticky

Hmmm, didn't see this here, and I'm surprised. I think this would be a great sticky for our forum since Gyudva is nice enough to put forth the effort for us.

O.K. I've been checking out the race forums, and I noticed that the Mithra (my second favorite race) had a FAQ, but it wasn't stickeyed yet. I also noticed that the Mithra had no stickeyes. I read The Mithra FAQ and saw that it was pretty well organised, and highly useful.

So... I'm not sure if I have to be a premium member or not, but I nominate for The Mithra FAQ, at http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/races.html?frace=5;mid=1123701833348302842;num=38 to be stickeyed =) Please?

Hello! I've read the FAQ and am hoping I am following this process correctly by now posting here. We are hoping for a stickie on the RDM Job Forum site for a general FAQ for newcomers. The nominated post is called "RDM FAQ: Newcomers please READ before POSTING." Reason being is there have been endlessly repetitive new threads created by people about the same old topics (Dia vs. Bio is one that is about to drive us all to the Looney Bin!) and we are getting a bit frustrated at having to give the same information over and over again.

Even though this information is available in the existing guides, it seems that we are living in a fast-food world at the moment and people are just posting their requests, without actually doing any reading/research beforehand, in an attempt to get their answer quickly.

Some of us asked MargavineLiselle to put something together and she did in a flash. Here is the link:

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fjob=2;mid=1133409062140381594;num=4;page=0

Thanks for your consideration!

Denaunie, 74RDM
Cerberus

P.S. This is my first attempt at something like this...if I am in error, please send me a PM. Thanks!

P.P.S. In terms of the stickies already on that forum...The stickie by Aracelt titled "Red Mage AF Walkthrough - Complete" is actually included in the table of contents within the next stickie by Locano titled "The New Red Mage 101: A Table of Contents." Perhaps Aracelt's could be deleted (since the information is available within Locano's post)?

On the FFXI NIN board, we have a compilation thread that had been stickied for a while. However the former author doesn't frequent these boards often and has contacted me earlier today and is open to someone else taking this over.

A bit ago I redid this and asked those on the board that if they approved, if they could submit a sticky request since I know that self-requests are not given quite the consideration. They have done so here...

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=3;mid=1136399398120594436;page=#1136399398120594436

Since I was under the impression that sticky requests should go through this forum, I just wanted to post a follow up in the hopes that we can get these 2 threads switched out.

Thanks a lot :)
