I agree.

Atleast be given a warning or something.

I would third this, quite annoying and it doesn't show any signs of getting better.

I don't see the point, if you're browsing with filters off, it's your own problem.

While I agree it is our responsibility to ignore/disregard posts of poor reputation when we have our filters off, it is also reasonable to agree that people have their filters off because they know people will (and do) abuse the karma system on these boards. This can result in someone's post being rated down below Decent and thereby not be viewable because they were "trolled", not because their post was poor (or Awful).

If this particular poster has done nothing by way of contribution to the forum or is consistently acting poorly on these boards with their posts, then if the option to set them to "No-Post" is available, why not activate it? Even if it is for the temporary to make them aware of their actions and the Administrations ability to control such actions.

Because we're not here to hold hands with people in the forum. If we went around and noposted people for a day whenever they annoyed other people, or attended to any of the small problems that karma fix, we'd never get any actual work done.

Few reasons, and please bear with me on this.

a) Laisee faire forums. All allakhazam forums and comments are only as moderated as the users would like them to be - which is to say "not very much".

b) I don't like to tell people how to behave or what they can or cannot say. Ya ya, there's plenty of legal literature on it, but I believe that people have the right to behave as they please, and that includes behaving badly.

c) The forums support a user community system for filtering and self moderation. Like you said, it's not 100% perfect, but it does represent the community's will. A mob mentality sometimes, but it gives members of the community a method of reacting to and tools to deal with people who excersize their right to be unsavory.

As a rule: We don't moderate posts, and we don't de-voice people here. That's upto you, and in this case it appears the community will worked.

The admin tools for moderation are only for extreme conditions of spamming or abuse.
