I thought rating wasn't supposed to happen in forum #3.Follow

#1 Aug 01 2004 at 7:03 PM Rating: Good
I was looking up something in my post list just now and have noticed that someone is rating down every feedback forum post of mine that they can find.

This has happened in the last day or two.

Is this happening to anyone else as well?
I'm not so mad about the ratings themselves even though most of them were 1s from the look of it, since it only moved me by .01, but I think someone needs a spanking.

rating happens in this forum, like any other.

I often rate people for whining about Karma here, or making good intellegent suggestions.

Editing works fine too

Sheebasaurus, the only reason I didn't ask an admin about that latest karma camper is because it's luck of the draw whether I get Kaolin, who seems to actually care, or Illia, who dosen't like the thought that someone may actually be abusing his system.

It was funny to see Illia tell me that I never had a camper, when Kaolin told me before that I did.

Think what you want of this. I'm glad that you respond when a crap post needs to be taken care of or a poster gets out of line, but after this was written, and after what you wrote just now, I wonder if you care enough about this subject to look into it, let alone give me an honest answer about it. Like I said, this happened in the last two days... I wouldn't mind if it had happened over time.

Oh, the editing was working hit and miss earlier. It was making new reply posts, (some of which were in subthreads) instead of editing the intended posts. I've noticed that one of my mispost subthreads was Nuked. I'll thank you, or the admin that fixed that, but I wish that someone would have posted a response to the post that it showed as its root.

think I found the condition where you can create sub posts so easily.

Sub-posts are a featre, not a bug, but being able to make them is mostly disabled.

you're using the navigation which is incorectly exposed on the edit window to create posts, which is bad.

Is that something that can be stopped when editing posts? I can control it when posting replies, but I think the problem today was that it wanted to post edits as new posts. I'm no programmer though.

You can't tell me that there isn't camping on this thread. They even gave Haggan 2 awfuls. (I can do the math, it's not that hard). The posts after his second one seem fine so far.

How does the math work?

Is it you current rating + Current Rating + Ratings given / number of ratings (as in 3 if I get one excellent)?

I know. (4.99 + 4.99 + 1) / 3 = 3.66

Here's an explanation of the process which shows actual ratings for the example:

Don't worry, I requested the Nukes give there.

Edit: I just realized why my math is off in that post, but it's locked, so I can't edit it. I forgot to put my rating into the equation a second time.

The way it works is it takes the original rating and then adds all subsiquent ratings to it and then averages them. The original rating is also added as the poster's rating for the post, but since they can't rate themselves, it will alsways match the original rating in the equation.
