Is Forum searching premium only?

EDIT: Otherwise, it looks great. Very handy.

It will be, yes.

Bit of documentation for this is needed:

Aside from the obvious parameters, the search uses some mysql boolean mode functions to behave closer to what one would expect from a search engine.

By Default, all words you type are required to appear in a post in order for that post to return, anywhere in a post.

If you enclose a string in "quotes like this" then the entire phrase is required.

You can provide negation (don't return posts with this word) by specifying !word. eg: !notthisword

You can make a word optional by specifying a ~ infront of it. ~word means it is not required to appear, but posts with that word will rank higher than posts without.

Examples:

"this is a monk item" - search for all posts with the phrase "this is a monk item"
this is a monk item - search for all posts with the words "monk" and "item" and "this".
enchanter !monk ~item - search for all posts with the word enchanter, which do not have the word monk, and maybe have the word item.

Are results capped at 20 for the moment?

within the 20 result limit it seems to work great!
I think the options are good, though I would generally prefer to have the earliest date on the left (1999) and the highest date on the right for the date range.

Also, would it be possible to have a forum quicksearch box at the top of every forum? Have it set to only search within that forum, sort by default settings? Maybe a

[________] {searchbutton} (Linkforadvancedsearch)

For longer search results, will they be one huge list, or multiple pages? either would work.

Most impressive!

Yeah, the date seems kinda backwards to me too.

Also noticed the results cap.

But it still rocks. Tried "change allegiance" and got all those damn threads asking the same question. Very cool.

Maybe an option to search Thread Titles vs. search Body.

it doesn't search thread subjects at all, for performance reasons.

I'll add pagination shortly (forgot to put it in before pushing this live), 20 / page is intended, but you're supposed to be able to browse through further pages.

Date seemed reasonable to me, guess I'm backwards or something.

also, by the way I wholeheartely agree with the decision not to allow searching by username. that could have been... messy

The date thing might just be me. Doesn't really matter one way or the other hehe

edit: oh, as a marketing ploy, you may want to leave search visable for non premium - so they won't keep asking "where's the search" a billion times.

I just saw the link for search in the forums and I just wanted to say thanks! Sorry I can't really give feedback on it since I haven't needed to use it yet, but thank you!

How did you get "the postaholic" as a title? It's not on the list as far as I can see

Added pagination, and a couple optimizations.
