As lots of people have pointed out, and I agree, there is a significant of great information in that thread that will be of great service to new players. Stickying it will contribute to lowering redundant posts, but first and foremost will leave a great deal of general information and lots of useful link quickly accessible to all.

I am not the thread starter, though I've contributed. Please review the thread and determine if it is worth of sticky.
