The time has come... to make songs and rolls alliance-wide.Follow

I think it's time for SE to finally make this change, and make all area songs and rolls affect the entire alliance rather than just one party at a time.

I know that SE cannot be oblivious to the popular strategy for tackling more difficult content these days, which is to rotate corsairs and bards through the parties over the course of the entire event. This takes a great deal of coordination, distracts players from the actual content, and I feel fairly safe in saying that nobody enjoys doing it.

When people would be swapping bards and corsairs anyway, what's the harm in simply making those buffs hit the entire alliance? It wouldn't increase the number of effects the alliance has, in fact it could even decrease it by preventing those jobs from giving different buffs to the mage party than they give to the melee parties. Bards could still get around that with Pianissimo, and Corsair should probably get a similar ability if this change is made.

At this point in time, there's really no reason not to do this. I think it will allow everyone to enjoy the game more. Please make this change so that the game goes back to focusing on gameplay and combat tactics rather than party shuffling.

How about a once every ten minute JA that let's them hit the entire alliance? For both jobs.

That way, it can be mixed with the already existing extension buff timers on BRD, and it'll let the zergs take advantage of it without necessarily letting the longer term fights abuse it. (For plasm farms if you have more than a party in one spot fighting/farming, you're doing it wrong anyway.)

The reason they didnt do this already most likely is the (server)lag this would cause having 18 people get hit by song/roll effects over and over. Especially an Emp Harp bard (or lets face it, you'll have two if not three) spamming 4 songs in a matter of 30 seconds.

I'm completely on your side, dont get me wrong. I dread having to drop party over and over just to buff, only to risk being left out of the fight because 5 Bard-buffed melee's and an unbuffed Melee or Summoner does more to something than 5 Bard-Buffed melee's and a Bard. And then i'm not even mentioning the hassle it is of rotating. Takes too long, some invites are too slow, and by the time i get into the third party, i'm very likely to have maybe a second or two of Troubadour left if people didnt invite me on time or positioned themselves horribly...

How about letting us target a member in another party in the alliance, and having the buff AoE for their party around them? Only 6 effects instead of 18, nothing changed in the way the game already works, just without the hassle of having to drop the party everytime.

Some of Kojiros suggestions are great. Either a 10 or 5 minute timer on an alliance buff or some smaller cooldown ability to hit another party.

This. Otherwise, should be done.

Mechanically, determining distance from the BRD is just a matter of taking the absolute value of their XYZ coordinates relative to a target's XYZ and applying the buff if they're within the song range. This list is quite likely tied to the party list for songs/rolls and should easily be expanded to alliance content. Functionally, this should be no worse than a mob hitting an alliance with an AoE.
