Dear SE,

Could you make weakness targeting in Abyssea equal to Voidwatch, as in, able to trigger a weakness on a monster during any spell or ability that the opponent uses. This especially so on Iron Giants and Shinryu, where their normal physical attacks are counted as TP moves.

Much obliged :) Let us continue to make FFXI better each day :)

Have to say, that's one place where a BRD main is still useful. A good Slow and Carnage Elegy on an Iron Giant makes it quite a lot easier to land procs on them.

Slow/Elegy actually has no effect on an iron giant whatsoever because they do not have regular melee attacks :s It's the same reason why you can't stagger them while they're attacking, because their attacks are essentially JA/WS. (Hit a blue stagger on an iron giant, and he'll just stand there and be a punching bag for 30 seconds.)

Same goes for Shinryu, since he attacks the same way. (Although he has spells, so he's not entirely defenseless with blue stagger on.)

Theres a trick I use to procing weaknesses in abyssea. On reds and blues you could use weapons with low damage rates like the trick or treat staves till you get hints so you don't inflict heavy damage. For yellow weakness don't use MaB gear or MaB atmas till after procing. On mobs like Shinryu and Iron giants learning the timing on weapon skill attacks and magic casts is important as well as only having one melee attacker feeding tp to reduced tp moves.
