If you take the old airshis (people do that still?) you can actually see the cities your leaving and approaching (sandy, jeuno, windy, bastok, havent taken kazam ship in ages so dont remember that one) and even pass over the proper terrain and such between them. They actually put some thought into the existing airship traveling. If they add any future airships, im sure it would be the same.
I dont think anyone is actually AGAINST new zones. You will get flak about new zones just so you can exp somewhere else. That is way to much dev time and resources to make a friggin exp camp instead of new fun content. To be blunt, I dont know why anyone even gives a crap about what mobs you fight for exp/merits. Are there still droves and droves of people that arent capped on exp/merits yet? Ive been capped merits since like lv 85 on all my jobs and only take some 2 hours after level cap break to catch my handful of jobs up. I actually capped out pld, brd and rng (they were 75) before they even finished leveling to 85/90/95 because i had so many merits just from doing normal NMs and stuff.
EXP is such a freakishly unimportant aspect of the game now, i still cant fathom why people are set on adding new zones, changing it up and remaking the whole game around exp again.
IF they add a new exp zone, and IF its actually used (ie has to compete with abyssea/GOV), and IF you arent already capped on exp/merits, then a few people MIGHT use it for the 1 day it takes to level.
The game isnt centralized around exp anymore. I far enjoy doing other things than killing another crab or colibri. Spending a ton of development time to re-do the leveling 'experience' is just a waste of time when the playerbase spends so little time leveling. Dont waste resources on a tiny, tiny part of the game that we pass over. If you agree or not that exp 'should' be central to this game, then that is a different arguement and has been done to death anyway)
The fact is, like it or not, that exp is not a big part of the game anymore. No one goes out to 'get buffers' anymore. Buffers and merits have been integrated into the game. I get like 16k exp for killing a zilart path T3 mob. ONE mob. If that isnt the "add hard mobs that need an alliance to kill but give massive exp and some other neat rewards" that people have suggested 10,000 times to 'change it up' for exp style, i dont know what is.
The irony in all the recent exp threads is they HAVE done many of the things people have asked for. NMs give loads of exp and drop other stuff (VW, Abyssea NMs). EXP can be done while getting other rewards (FoV/GoV chests etc) Exp is more inclusive (less job descrimination). Exp is faster. There are bajillions of viable camps now (as well as HUGE variety of zones at all levels to choose from). You can level solo, small party, normal party or alliance wide in or outside abyssea for good exp/hour.
You can litterally level in ANY way you want. Any size group. Virtually any zone in the game, with almost any job combo you want. And even get other stuff while you exp so its not JUST exp grind.
But you want to have what would end up as the size of a new expansion just to have a new place to exp (that drops other stuff too of course!)? SE gave us EVERYTHING we have ever asked for in exp, yet every 2 days there is another thread to bring back 'old' exp.
EXP is fine. It is no longer the CENTER of the game and everyone can access it easily. Spend future dev time on content. Not rehashing exp for the 50th time.
Guess grass is always greener on the other side.
